Link keeps freezing

Whenever I try to launch my cable link, it freezes within minutes to seconds. It used to run just fine but over time the freezing has gotten more frequent until now cable link is completely unplayable. I use the same setup and the same type of third party cable that used to run fine and ran fine for a long time. I've tried restarting my PC, my headset, got a fresh cable incase my old one was going bad (unless I got shipped a bad cable), have tried to repair and do a clean install of the meta quest app on my PC, tried using different USB-C ports on my PC, and nothing has worked. Still freezes within seconds of launching link. I'm stumped. In the cases where I got into a game before it freezes, the game still appears to be running fine on my pc, its just the picture in the headset that's frozen. I try to unplug and replug to reset the link and it causes steamVR to crash or just wont connect to the pc again until I restart the Meta app on my PC. My brother also owns a quest 2, the same as me, and he let me use his headset to trouble shoot, and using his headset would have similar results and would freeze as well. Im leaning toward a PC related issue because of that but Im still stumped on exactly what.

Hey!

 

We always recommend using the official Meta Link cable, as third party cables may not have the transfer power to properly and consistently operate the headset.

Ensure that your graphics card, oculus, and windows drivers are all fully up to date also as this can cause issues with performance!

Everything is up to date from what I've been able to see. And I've used the same type of cable for over 2 years prior without issue. Its not impossible for the cable to be the issue but I would be surprised if that is the case. It wouldn't hurt to try the official cable I suppose. I'll try that.
