Lost access to Quest + Games after ending subscription

Hi,

I got a 6 month sub for Quest + when I bought a Quest 3 back in October last year. I chose not to renew the sub and now the games I redeemed with my sub have been removed. I don't think that was made clear at the time I signed up for Quest + and in any case, if it was a perk of buying the 512GB Quest 3, which is how it was advertised, it's not much of a perk if you don't get to keep the games you redeemed whilst the sub was running. Pretty rubbish really.

Disappointed.

It's pretty standard for any gaming platform that provides this type of subscription service. Just renew your subscription and you'll be able to play all the games you've claimed before. Check out more details on Quest + here.

That's how subscriptions work. If you subscribe to anything, not just video games - gym memberships, magazine subs, car breakdown services - you only have access for as long as you subscribe.

If you're not a subscriber to other gaming platforms (I'm not), I think it should be made clearer that you only get use of the apps as long as you subscribe. The whole thing is pretty misleading - with the sweetener for going for the 512GB model, at the very least you should get 6 months access to the games you redeem. The last game I redeemed only gave me a couple of weeks access and I certainly wouldn't have used Quest + had I needed to pay for it. There were only about 4 games out of the 12 offered over the 6 months free period that interested me, so I'm not going to pay £7.99 a month on that basis.  I love my Quest 3 but Quest + sucks and I'd advise any newcomer to Quest 3 not to bother with it.

The subscription situation is covered on the Quest + web page.

I'm sorry you don't feel as if it was made clear enough but all the information is right there for you. Add in the normally accepted definition of a subscription and I really don't think, for once, that Meta is at fault here.

I ran into this same issue, why is there a separate category that mentions you keep those two games unlocked per month, yet you can't use them when the sub Is cancelled, might as well just put it with the rest of the games.

Are familiar with Netflix, Hulu, or Prime Video? They are movie and tv streaming services. To watch anything there, you need to have a current subscription to access any of the content.

Once you cancel your subscription there, you do not get to download and access everything you've seen during your time as a subscriber. The same is true here.

All of this said though - this is the kind of issue that Meta Support may be able the help ease a bit, with some kind of solution for you.

I had a similar problem with the service, except I didn't see enough value in it because I had previously owned a Oculus Quest (the first one of these from 2019). For the first 3 months of my Quest+ subscription, I owned everything in the revolving library already, but talking to meta support in chat (available from meta.com by clicking the word in the upper right corner of the page).

It might be worth a try, Meta's support does really seem concerned with the satisfaction of their users. Just remember the support person is trying to help, it does make a difference.

that is confusing to me too, i had to recheck the phrasing a few times. For reference, it says

"For just $7.99 USD monthly or $59.99 USD a year, get two curated titles added to your library each month valued at up to $50 USD total. After they're redeemed, they're yours as long as you're a subscriber."

so this clarification means that while the library titles will shift in and out, the "two curated titles" will remain accessible to subscribers regardless of being in the rotating Quest+ library or not. Dang, now i'm feeling even less satisfied about my subscription.

I have two years of it and so far the first 3 months I had everything I wanted in the rotating library AND the curated titles for those months. So I got zero value from it. I did complain and was given a material apology but not as much as I wanted (I wanted to cancel it but it was part of the deal I bought).

Personally, for subscribers like me, whom already have the games, Meta should drop a 50% off any game coupon in my account as a 'thanks for being a good supporter' and a 'sorry we don't have anything else for you to try this month'.
