[MEGATHREAD - Known Issue] App Download/Install Speed

iRook187

The last couple of days the PC Oculus App is downloading games terribly slow. No it’s not my internet, modem, router or my PC. I am speed testing at 1100mbps and every other download on other apps are downloading normal. This just started recently and was working fine a few days ago. What’s going on META?

I also have started to get the same issue. I first noticed it when I tried to download Asgard's Wrath. It took almost 12 hours. I am now downloading Pop 1 update and it has taken 5 minutes to download 31.5MB (Yep, MB). The biggest issue is, is if you pause the download to start it again the next day, it starts from the beginning. You have no choice but to leave you power hungry gaming rig on for long periods of time.

I don't get the issue on the headset. Just on the Windows app.

I have encountered a issue I have an update for population 0ne 3.51 gb and its only going at 1-10 kbs 1st I'm hardwared and getting 471 download and 40 upload have the same game on steam did the update at the same time and steam got done In about 5 mins and now 1.5 hours in  my oculus update is at 235.7 mb things I've tried Uninstalled and re installed, check. restarted internet fully, check. restarted devices, check.

idk what I'm missing IM NOT ON STAND ALONE IM PCVR

Hi there @nilshjelte.vixel! Knowing this slow download issue is causing a delay in your full VR experience, we want to help you get this resolved as soon as we can! If you're noticing slow download speeds, it's most likely your connection. Is this the only app you are having issues with? Does the system have an antivirus suite that is active? If you could try giving these steps a go and letting us know if this helps, it would be so appreciated!

  • Try another application to check if the connection issue is related to the Oculus app only
  • Try another connection type
  • Please unplug your router for 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and give it about 3-5 minutes to get booted up and stabilize the connection.
  • Check the state of your connection.

If you haven't already, try rebooting the headset, disconnecting/reconnecting the Wi-Fi on the headset, and move the headset closer to the router. We appreciate your patience and look forward to your response!

Oculus app PC games are SO slow to download. The speed of download is so slow that I can walk away from the PC and come back later, and sometimes the amount downloaded doesn't change at all. I have a new Windows 11 gaming laptop on a Fiber 300 - 400 Mbps speed connection.

What got my attention on this was trying to run Robo Recall on a new Quest 3 headset. I already had RR on my laptop from a while back and it previously worked on my Quest 2 headset. Unfortunately, Robo Recall doesn't work longer than a few seconds after it starts up and streams to the Quest 3 headset. After several attempts, I went with uninstalling the game to try and reinstall, that's when I found out that the download speed is glacially slow. *Update* RR downloaded eventually, but it still crashes soon after the title screen on Quest.

I also tried airlink play on Super Hot, which actually would allow me to play on the Quest 3 from the PC. So the issue is not for all games, but RR has a history of this type of issue on forums.

So trying to troubleshoot one issue with RR led to finding out about the speed issue from Oculus. This is a post about a combo of 2 issues at lease, yet I hope it can get some solutions from Meta. I know others have posted similar experiences with no real solution given that fixes either of these issues that I've read and/or tried out myself. I am a Computer Science degree graduate and am familiar with programming games and networking, etc. so sometimes I attempt to try even obscure solutions that people post online. So far nothing helpful found for this particular set of problems that I've seen.

For a third issue: I have to reboot 1 or more times to even get the Quest 3 to recognize airlink to my PC. Very frustrating to have Quest 3 behave worse than the Quest 2.

Hi again! We hope you're having a good day so far. We just wanted to check in with you and see if you were still having issues with installing the Onward game to your device. If you still need any assistance, please don't hesitate to get back to us so we can continue working towards a resolution with you! Have a phenomenal day!

This is still a problem

unbelievable that you would try to suggest the problem lies with us, I can get upwards of 10Mbps when downloading on steam whereas i get an average of 100 BYTES per second on your **bleep**ty software
