meta there is no point in contacting your support as they are not interested, we have purchased a silicone cover (not that we should of had to - as the fabric that meta had used is not suitable and causing the problem)
I do not want my son to use this anymore, as his eyes have been bad since November and we had had countless gp appointments and he has been prescribed steroids for this but it still has scarred his skin!

Yep. When I contacted support they told me to discontinue use of the headset or buy the silicone facial interface for $40. I don’t understand this at all. I get that fabric is generally tolerated, but if you carefully examine the material it is woven in a way that makes it abrasive. You can see there are intertwining threads that have a hole in between them so those threads are constantly being dragged across the face with even the slightest change in facial expression. When I smile or anything, it pushes my cheekbones up and scrapes against the material causing micro tears in the skin.
i really don’t understand how the quest 2 facial interface was recalled for skin irritation and the solution for skin irritation was to have a silicone face cover because silicone = reduced risk of irritation. Silicone was proven to be a better solution and they still created the quest 3 and said “hmm let’s try another material that hasn’t been used yet instead of the silicone we issued to make the quest 2 safe to use”

I bought one of the silicone covers that just fit over the fabric and it’s so annoying because it’s always sliding around

It's concerning to hear that your son developed a rash underneath his eyes after using it. Perhaps he becomes sweaty while using it, and he uses it without taking short breaks. Well, skin reactions can be tricky to deal with, especially when they're linked to something we use regularly. I've been through my fair share of skincare struggles lately, trying to find products that work for me. I recently stumbled upon a dermatology reference textbook that's been quite enlightening. It's been helping me understand more about skincare and potential irritants.
