I am losing my mind.
i can't use my headset because the ocuylus app has to update each time i use it, and this time it has completely stopped working.
it started with the app just dissappearing without removing the desktop and start menu shortcuts. i then tried to install it again, and it started, but it says it can.t connect to meta quest servers or something. when i press repair, it fails, and ends up uninstalled again.
I have tried several times to install the app, reinstall it, repair it, nothing works.
please just let me use my headset without your stupid app, i beg you.....

Trust me when I tell you, Meta Quest Link will not work with Windows 11. No matter what you do or how hard you try, despite whatever Meta says, the app will absolutely never complete installation on a machine running Windows 11, it will always fail. There are goofy workarounds to try, but I was never able to execute any of them successfully to where the app both installed and retained functionality.

Also, since i have the original rift, i can't contact support, because my serial number is not recognised.....

Question, are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11?

I'm on windows 11, I don't actually think I've tried the app after upgrading from windows 10, so maybe that has something to do with it?

@joinn1710 have you looked into the possibility of using ALVR software instead of the meta software?

How would that work? As I understand, that's for wireless headsets. The rift CV1 is wired only.

Sounds like I have to dual boot windows 10

My Quest 3 was working great, then the Meta Quest link did an update, and now it just spins, and takes for ever to load. once it does load, I have a white meta symbol, with the room scale, but can't find headset in MSFS, or steam. I repaired the install, it works again, then update comes, and wrecks it again. I am using window 11, on a I9 14900 with GTX 4090 with 64 gig of ram.
What is going on with this thing, I bought a new Meta link cable for 70+ dollars, and it did nothing different to help...

I ended up dual booting Windows 10 on the windows 11 machine I couldn't get working, and that fixed everything. I have no idea why, but the meta link app and most likely any oculus/meta Headset will most likely only work on windows 10 for now, so I suggest doing the same thing I did, even though it's a pain in the ass, because it's still easier than trying to get it working on windows 11...
