MQ3 with link cable - very poor battery life

Hi,

I normally use mine wireless with a head mounted battery pack which can keep me going for over 3 hours usually. I invested in a link cable that, unfortunately due to bad design, uses the same port as the battery pack. So I can't use the link and battery pack.

The cable also does not charge the headset during use or if it does its very minimal. This means I now get less than 2 hours out of the headset using the link cable. Which is now less than a movie length and I often use mine to watch movies on,

The extremely low battery life is a deal breaker using the cable. I was thinking, could I use a 2x USB adapter or something to allow the battery pack and link cable to connect to the same port? Can this be done?

Can meta please consider adding two ports to new designs so that its possible to charge the unit using a battery pack while still using the link cable?

Thanks,

@Greyhawk101  plug your power brick into the cable to provide power if your mobo does not do power delivery.

Ok, thanks. Looks like I wasted £17 on this cable!

@Greyhawk101  most modern Pcs have a dedicated PD [power delivery] USB port that can supply enough power to keep the headset charged and do data passthrough. It may be worth seeing if your mobo has a PD USB port.

Unfortunately its 10 years old. So I doubt it has anything like that. I'll just go ahead and buy a splitter. They are pretty cheap. It is absolutely worth it for the extra resolution. Eg, Playing Elite Dangerous, max I can reliably get is 1.0 x HMD resolution on Wifi. With the link cable I can get 2.0. Which makes all the screens readable and 90% of the jaggies disappear. The quality difference is just chalk and cheese. Wifi just seems so limited.
