I’ve been using a single email address for both my Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Recently, however, I noticed that a new account with the Meta logo had appeared in my account list.
This new Meta account was using the same email address as my Instagram and Facebook.
So, I have two main questions.
First question
Is it possible for a Meta account to be created automatically by the system, even if I didn’t personally create it?
Second question
When I tried to log into the Meta account by resetting the password, I found that two-factor authentication (2FA) was enabled.
Is there absolutely no way to log in without completing the two-factor authentication?
Here’s a bit more context:
Since I couldn’t disable the 2FA, I ended up removing my Instagram and Facebook accounts from the previously linked Meta account.
Then, I created a new Meta account myself and re-linked my Instagram and Facebook to it.
However, I’m now worried.
I’m concerned that maybe a hacker somehow gained access to my email, created the Meta account first,
and secretly linked my Instagram and Facebook accounts to it without my knowledge.
This possibility is making me feel quite anxious…
