Meta Browser Youtube doesn't play 3D contents

Tried using Meta Browser to play Youtube VR videos, when selecting 3D Top/Bottom it just messes up the entire video. I don't know how to explain but it doesn't work and you'll get a really messed up image. Has there been a fix for this as I couldn't find any info on the internet. Couldn't be a faulty device because this is not hardware related.. I also couldn't click 3D left/right only 2D works when i go into VR (either 180 or 360 view)

Hey @FrenchieBong! Consuming your media in VR can be a super immersive experience—almost like you're really there, so we'd love to lend a hand! It's likely not a faulty device, since the issue seems to mainly be software related, as you mentioned.

  • Can you confirm if your Meta Quest Browser is fully updated to the most recent version?
  • Can you confirm which headset version your Oculus Quest is currently running?
    • You can check in Quick Settings > Settings > Software Update under the Current Version Details section. The formatting should be 59.#.#.###.###.######### or 60.#.#.###.###.#########.
  • Try clearing your Meta Quest Browser history, cache, and cookies.
    • Sometimes, saved defaulted settings may affect your ability to access certain features within the app.
  • Does this happen when changing the video quality?
    • 1080p60, 1440p60, 2160p60, & 4320p60?
    • For the best experience, we typically recommend setting the video quality to 4320p60 for YouTube.
  • Are you able to access 360/180 VR videos on any other web streaming sites, or does this only happen on YouTube?
  • Are you able to access 360/180 VR videos on other software such as the YouTube VR app, or does this only happen in the Meta Quest Browser?

Once we get a bit more info, we'll be able to determine what might be happening, and what we can do to help out!

I have tried all the above and still having a distorted 3D Top/Bottom in the Meta Browser of Youtube.

Thanks for confirming, @FrenchieBong! As far as our other previous questions go, do you mind providing a bit more information on those?

Along with that information, can you capture the distortion with a clip? You can transfer the video to your mobile app to share on the forums by following our page here.

We also recommend trying out a hard-reboot:

  1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
  2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
    1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Hopefully that works out, if not, let us know along with that other information, and we'll see what else we can do!

v60 for the quest 3

yes browser is up to date.

I can accesss VR mode on the youtube VR app but don't know other website that streams VR contents other than youtube.

The distortion is like the screen is upside down and not center. Hard to describe but i'll try my best to upload an image.

I did a reset when i first bough the unit but i am afraid it will delete all my apps and i have to redownload. I mean i can try in case there are no other option but i'll save it for last.

Thank you @FrenchieBong for getting back to us!

Just some extra thoughts we had:

  • Try a quick reboot
    • Turn the headset off and leave it off for 10+ minutes before turning it back on and trying again
  • Try an alternative room with a new boundary setup
    • Just in case there is a weird interaction with tracking
  • Be sure you try multiple VR videos, just in case there is an issue with the video you are trying to watch

And if a Factory Reset seems like the last resort, make sure you have Cloud Backups enabled, and have checked the cloud backups on Your Account to ensure the latest backups are recent. Then when you factory reset, you do not need to start everything over again. Purchased apps will still be purchased so no worries about having to rebuy any.

Let us know if anything changes, we hope to hear from you soon!

Unfortunately I'd tried everything and it's still not working. I tried Vimeo and still the 3D goes distorted. Sounds to me this couldn't be a hardware issue. but everytime i go into VR mode in meta browser it will ask me about boundaries and then it will go from passthrough mode to immersive mode.

Same to me. 180 / 360 is shown. If I push it, the screen change, but the screen is blurry. The 3D and the immersive views not in work. I think they have to change some settings and the creator has to set up some information about his video. If he knows that it's possible to look in umersive view and in 3D he can improve the settings and he can block it if he don't want to give it to us. Seen and watched on Eureka Quest 3. Handtracking works good and fast if you want to use it on meta browser. Maybe they can give us a feedback button direct in Eureka browser. Take a look on xBox insider. That could be possible to send messages and information directly to creator, studio and publisher. Meta can give us this.

same looking in my headset.
