I'm receiving emails from Meta to verify age for my account using a credit card or ID... but the same Meta account has already got a valid payment method registered.
The email links to http://auth.meta.com/verify which looks legit.
If it's not a scam email, why is it verifying twice ... the credit card is there already... :)))
Thanks for any help.

@erpymeta @forgotten2long this is not a scam email, the age verification is part of the US child protection laws.
If you don't verify your account they could close your account down.

Wasn't there children using that account and get reported?

@oculusness I verified the account, the email was legit. The real question is, I verified it with the same credit card that was already registered on the same account.
If you have an account with a CC already on it, what's the point verifying twice ?
That's why the email seemed a scam in the first place... because the CC was already on the account.

@erpymeta it seems, like they're not even checking your current details but maybe just getting you to confirm the details they already have are correct. I was asked if my birth date was correct and I replied with a yes and they were happy with that.

I see. Not in my case though. They did the verification from scratch, entering the CC details in the process started from the email (double risk of a scam... :)))
In such cases, where an account already has got a verified payment method, I think they shouldn't have sent the verification email at all - or at least state clearly that the payment method was already registered but needed to be verified again.
