The Meta Move app will be discontinued after March, 31, 2025 with the reason noted:
"Move currently relies on legacy technology, which limits our ability to introduce new innovations for Quest users. This transition will allow us to deliver more advanced and exciting features to enhance the Quest experience."
Seriously Meta ? If you remove this app and take away features from your product without providing any other option it will make your product less useful. Move is an important tool, which i personaly use every day. And the reason of the curren app using "legacy technology" does not seem very logical to me either, especially because this would imply that there must be a "non-legacy technology" exising, that could be used instead.

Yep, saw that and I'm just commenting here to help boost the views and number of replies, so that hopefully this gets some attention!

If you've got some step-by-step instructions for that, I'm game.

@Hinesight this will only work if someone still has a working copy of the move app on their headset or an old backup which has it on. I may have access to a headset that hasn't been turned on for a while which should have a copy of the move app on it. Plenty of tutorials on sidequest backup on the interwebs.

If it's hard to track calories when using hand tracking without controllers, an app with time tracking is already useful enough. It's hard to believe that there is no global time tracking tools for a VR device nowadays. If Meta doesn't want to do it, they should provide an API to show global overlay and let other developers do it.

Here is how to bring back Move
Tested on V76 firmware. Once enabled, all historical data (on the device) will still be there 😉
You need to enable back monitoring in the app. Definitely Sync with app won't work because logcat reports invalid certificates.
Please note that Meta may eventually remove the Move app in an upcoming firmware update or via a Link app update.
Personally, I disabled firmware updates since I don't need any of the "news" from Meta:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.oculus.updater
1) Via Quest Game Optimizer
Click to show only 2D apps and launch Move from there.
2) Via ADB command
adb shell am start -n com.oculus.fitnesstracker/com.oculus.fitnesstracker.FitnessTrackerActivity
After enabling monitoring, the application works as before. Maybe is not accurate, but ideal to monitor activity.

@007x007 are you able to pull a copy of the app off the headset for those users that had it deleted by an update?

Thank you, @007x007 ! 😄
At first, I really thought they would just remove the app and I didn't consider it could just get "hidden" instead, so I never considered finding another way to launch it...

@007x007 great news. Could you possibly dump a copy on myairbridge or similar and send a link?
