Meta Quest 2 'Headset not found', Unable to Pair In Setup After Factory Reset

Hi,

I hope you are well.

Issue as in title. The headset pin is entered in the app as displayed in the headset, however the app says the headset is not found. This is with Meta Horizon. Meta Quest Link App and Meta Quest Development Hub applications have also been tried on a Windows machine to no avail.

Kind regards,

Zakary

@CoralSquirrel4877 You seem to have tried all the sensible options already.

Is the mobile app the latest version

Do you have another device, android phone/tablet, IOS or iPad.

Have you tried an older version of the android mobile app.

Have you tried the meta quest update tool.

Have you tried the unofficial update method - https://youtu.be/YQqIDb9NERY

@oculusness The mobile app is the latest version.

I will see about trying another device. Likely another iOS and iPad is within reach, with a potential Android possible to try.

If the Android phone is available an older version of the app will be tried.

I am not aware of the Meta Quest Update Tool, I will give that a look, cheers.

And I have not tried the unofficial update method, thank you.

You've given some more avenues - appreciated.

Another iOS Device: Same outcome.

iPad Device: [Not available at present, will be available later.]

Android Device: [Not available for testing.]

Meta Quest Update Tool: "Connection failed

Error claiming interface: Ensure no other tabs are accessing the device and that local ADB isn't connected. If needed, run 'adb kill-server' in the terminal and retry connect."

- Although there was a minor win with this update tool, in that the device appeared as paired in the browser ' 'add device' ' window and system Bluetooth dialogue and managed to show on the Development Hub for the first time as a result of the sideload option being used (although was unauthorised and as such could not be utilised in the Development Hub.)

Unofficial Update Method: Seem to have successfully updated the firmware to the latest available version, however the headset is still 'Not Found' by the corresponding Horizon app.

@CoralSquirrel4877 well, you seem to be making some progress and you still have further options with the iPad and android. Is the headset visible to other devices WiFi/bluetooth. Perhaps a loose WiFi or Bluetooth antenna.

It appears on the Bluetooth devices list for the Windows machine (albeit perhaps remembered from the pairing which happened when using the Update Tool) though otherwise does not appear on Windows machine or iPhone Wi-Fi / Bluetooth lists. I hypothesise the ability for it to pair in Bluetooth in previous use of the Update Tool increases confidence the antenna is operable, but not with certainty.

Should I be seeing it as a device to connect on my phone? - Is this something wrong with my device?

Kind regards

@CoralSquirrel4877 I've just done the same thing with my iPhone with the headset Bluetooth turned on and it wasn't showing up either. Perhaps there's a dedicated phone app to see all devices as the Bluetooth is permanently on receive for just the controller button inputs.

@CoralSquirrel4877 does your PC have Bluetooth as it may be needed with the MQDH setup.

It does have it although MQDH doesn’t pick it up. I’m going to have a think what I can do tomorrow.

Kind regards

Update: iPad also gives ‘Headset not found’ on input of device pin.

Of the aforementioned options there is just an Android device and trying of an old .apk remaining.

A solution of another kind may arise separate to this.

Question to readers: Is Meta Quest 2 expected to cause trouble like this in 2025?
