Meta Quest 2 Running Slow

CatGamer1000
Protege

Hello!

I have had my Quest 2 since the first week it’s been available and for the past few months it’s been running slower and slower and having more and more issues. First, games booted slower, then the headset booted and powered off slower, then games ran slower, then the headset didn’t charge while off. It’s all crescendoed to the point it’s gotten unbearable, my headset is out of warranty. I would factory reset my headset, but I have unknown sources data that I do not want to delete and I cannot back it up due to the controversial removal of Android folder access change.

Hi there @CatGamer1000,

Thanks for providing that information, we would suggest these few troubleshoots to try and resolve this issue:

  • Try using a different power source, such as a different outlet.
  • Try using different charging cable if possible, before doing this, completely drain the Quest's battery and leave on charge for a minimum of 4 hours.

I would also like to ask if you have attempted a reboot at all to resolve this issue? If not, please see the steps below to do this:

  • Hold the power and volume (-) button on the headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads
  • Exit and reboot the headset

Please attempt these troubleshoots to fix your issue and let us know how you got on!

Hello!

Your solution for the battery reset worked exactly as expected, my process was:

- Leave headset running with the display off

- Battery depletes

- Plugged in (with the same cable)

- Charge for around 2 hours

- Perfectly fine, headset boots faster, games launch quicker, games run smoothly

Hello there, @CatGamer1000! We absolutely want to do our best to get you back into the VR world. so we popped in to offer some assistance with charging your headset! To begin with, let's clarify the following details to get a better idea of the current state of your headset:

  • When the headset is plugged up to charge, what color is the LED light?
  • How specifically is the headset being charged? What cable is being used?
  • How long were you able to keep your headset on charge for?
  • So we don't repeat any, what troubleshooting steps have already been tried?

Hello!
When my headset is plugged in, it doesn’t even have a light almost all the time. The headset is being charged while off and hanging on a wall-mounted hanger. The cable used is 65w and a Chromebook charger. I have my headset charging whenever it’s off and now have to charge it while on otherwise I only have 10 minutes of playtime. I have tried no troubleshooting steps as I do not know where to start.
