Meta Quest 2 controllers have wrong positions

ushko3
Honored Guest

Hi,

Just bought new Meta Quest 2 and instantly have issues with controllers: they have wrong positioning. They can stack in the same place for a while or have position offset etc. In the same time rotation and fingers tracking works well. I already tried:

  • reboot
  • re-pair controllers
  • factory reset
  • change 3 rooms and recalibrate lightning etc
  • change batteries
  • remove batteries for 5-6 minutes

Its really frustrating(

Hey there, @ushko3! We see you are having issues with your controllers, we know how this can hinder your VR experience. Thank you for providing those troubleshooting steps. So that we can get this resolved and ease your frustration, please try the following steps:

  • On Standalone Headsets: Increase the dead zones of the controller until the drift is no longer an issue/noticeable.
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to Hands and Controllers Settings
    3. Select Controllers in the left menu
    4. Next to Thumbstick range and dead zone, select the joystick which is having issue
    5. Follow on-screen instructions to recalibrate the joysticks deadzones
  • When powering on your controllers, ensure that the Analog sticks aren't being held in any direction and are at rest in the neutral position.

Once this is done and the issue still persists, please follow this link here. Our amazing support team will gladly get you taken care of!

Thanks for responding. The problem with the contollers'(both) positions in the vr. They mismatch with my hands. Rotation and finger tracking are good.

It seems to me that your answer is not related to the problem. I think ushko3 is struggling with the position of the controller but not the joystick.

I am having the same problem, looks like the camera can track my hand correctly but not the controller

Hey @CLYHK, thanks for clearing that up! Controller tracking issues aren't fun, so let's see what we can do!

To get a bit more insight, could you answer the following:

  1. How is the lighting in the play area? (Please be sure it's not too bright nor too dark)
  2. Are there any LED's around? (Please be sure to turn them off as they can mess with tracking)
  3. Have you tried cleaning the camera and controller rings?
  4. What all have you tried already?

Along with this, if you haven't already done so. Attempt the below steps:

  1. Remove the batteries for 20-30 minutes then replace with new or known working ones.
  2. Unpair/re-pair the controllers

We'll be awaiting your update!

Hi

I have recharged the handheld's batteries and tried once after fully recharge. The position is correct now and it had 30% battery life when it had detection problem. I'm not sure if it is correlated but I will post again if it happens. Thank you very much for your follow up.

We're glad to hear the issue seems to have been resolved at the moment. If anything comes up, please don't hesitate to let us know and we'll be happy to get a closer look.
