Meta Quest 2 freezes every time I plug it in

Meta Quest 2 freezes every time I plug it in, then it reboots. I have already tried power cycle and holding power and volume down button and then clicking on boot. And neither of those fixed the issue. Its super annoying when your in the middle of a game, and if the USB-C disconnects even a little, it freeze and reboots.

Hi @JMFP403 🙂

the problem you describe might be caused by a faulty cable.
I had that once......I could not see any damage at my cable but with a new cable my problems were solved.
I play cable linked without issues....so I think, it's not a general problem.

Hey there, @JMFP403! We understand that you're reporting an issue with your Meta Quest 2 freezing and rebooting when plugged in. We know how important it is to have your headset functioning properly, so let's work together to get this figured out!

As @Choleni mentioned, this could definitely be caused by a faulty cable. Were you able to test this out? If so, please let us know if it does the trick! If not, please reach back out with a little more information:

  • Which cable are you using?
    • Is it one that came with the device or a third-party one?
  • Is this standalone with a charging cable, or are you using a cable for PCVR?
  • Was there any damage to the cable?
  • Have you tried any other troubleshooting steps yet?
    • If so, please let us know what these are, so we don't accidentally ask you to repeat steps.

We're more than happy to continue looking into it!
