The device is trash and the support is trash. I'll never buy any Meta equipment ever again. My son has a Meta Quest 2 that I activated on Christmas, 2024. On January 12, 2025 the tracking stopped working and the controllers would buzz every 5 seconds and flash a white light. The weekend of January 25th I actually had the time to trouble shoot it and I spent hours reviewing and trying all of the troubleshooting on the meta community forums and other suggestions on the web. When none of those worked, I reached out to Meta via email and chat and here was my experience:
1. First of all you end up communicating with 100 different bots that do not pick up where the conversation left off, often requesting your name, unit serial number and mailing address a handful of times in a single conversation.
2. Since my system was so close to being in warranty, I was assured in a chat that they would be able to help get the unit fixed (mind you at this time, there has been zero diagnosis of what is wrong)
3. The next day, I got an email that said there is nothing they could do because it was out of warranty. Spent about 15 emails getting the conversation back to where it had been left off. The offer was an out of warranty replacement at $159.99 for the headset and $49.99 per controller. Mind you these are refurbished parts with only a 90 day warranty. I paid $249.99 for this brand new.
4. They have not diagnosed what part is the problem, so my only option is to purchase an entire refurbished set, for more than I bought a brand new one for.
Trash product, trash support.

So just to make sure that everything is clear.
You purchased this Quest 2 used and opened it up on Christmas 2024? Or you Purchased it new and you meant to say you opened it up 2023?
Either way the 1 year warranty included with your Quest 2 expired in December of 2024. You didn't purchase an extended warranty to protect from malfunction or breakdown past the covered 1 year that is included with the Quest 2.
The issue/breakdown occurred in January of 2025. Which, even though is very close to the end of December of 2024, is past that date.
Maybe next time consider spending the money to protect an important device past the standard warranty coverage so that if it does malfunction it will be covered. That is the point of a company offering extended coverage for a cost. If they just cover someone past the date of coverage, to do them a favor, people that paid for the extended coverage are getting shorted.
I know that if someone complained that the device isn’t working and got covered for free after I paid to have my device covered… I would be pretty ticked off about it.
