Meta Quest 2 mic doesn’t respond in airlink or with cable

Okay, so there are some similar posts, but they don’t go anywhere helpful for me.

I have an Oculus Quest Two that I’ve been playing for about 2-3 years now. A little over a year ago I purchased a gaming laptop with specs that support pc vr gaming. (Victus gaming laptop from 2021). I tried a while ago and couldn’t get the pcvr to work, but when I tried a few days ago it finally worked. My new problem is that my mic doesn’t pick up my voice unless I’m hollering myself hoarse, specifically in Vrchat. (I haven’t had time to test if the mic works in other games and most of them are not pcvr) I have looked in the Oculus mic settings, as well as my pc mic settings and Vrchat settings. Sensitivity is up, and nothing is muted. I’ve uninstalled the Oculus app on my laptop and tried to reinstall the mic driver, it solves nothing. I will be saving up for the new Oculus 3, but I’d like to be able to play Vrchat and use pc avatars, as well as go to pc only worlds. It’s not a necessity, but I’d like to solve the issue just because it’s a nuisance. 
(it doesn't matter if I use airlink or a cable. I’ve been told it may be the cable, but I’d rather try everything else before dropping $50+ on a cable when the one I have works very well for everything else)

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
