We understand that you don't want to lose all your game data and friends when performing a factory reset; however, luckily there's a feature called Cloud Backup! The feature of cloud backup makes sure everything is safe, like app progress and app settings. Cloud backup should be enabled by default unless manually changed. Since you attempted to hold on the power and volume "-" button and the headset just turned off, there are two options to perform a factory reset: one is through the headset, and the other is through the Meta mobile app. As long as your headset is linked to your phone, that should do it.

Please let us know once you have attempted this step. We eagerly await for your response!

Hi there, @Megamind0518! Thanks for flagging us down! We heard your gameplay is getting interrupted by a system utilities alert, and we would love to lend a hand!

First, please turn off your headset completely and leave it off for 10–20 minutes. Then, try the following steps to reboot your headset:

  • Hold the power and volume (-) buttons on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot Device, and press the power button.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes, and press the power button.

If this alert continues, please let us know if this is happening in a specific app or game or in the home environment. Please also share a screenshot of the error, if possible.

But it just keeps on spinning!

I need help.

Hello @Megamind0518! Thank you for sending this screenshot, and we are hoping we can help you out here. Were you able to do the hard reboot as we suggested in the last message? If so, and it's still stuck in the loop, we'd like you to do a factory reset. Make sure that the device is charged at least 50% before starting the factory reset. Please get back to us after you have done this. We look forward to your reply!

Hi meta!

So when I held on the - button and the power button and click the power button on boot device the oculus just turns turns back off?

And a factory reset! I really don't want to lose all my stuff like Job simulator,Beat saber, and other stuff that are money!

Also what about in-game purchase, will those go away?

And I really DO NOT want to lose my friends!!!

Hi meta!

So when I go to cloud backups it says I have to go into my oculus (but I cant) and turn on cloud backups, I feel like I have it on already but I'm not sure yet if I'm going to do a factory reset.

We understand you want to double-check if you have cloud backup enabled before attempting a factory reset. However, performing a factory reset is our last resort before knowing what other options we have for you and going into depth with this issue.

We can't wait to hear back from you, @Megamind0518!
