Meta Quest 3 Being stuck on update, for over 5 hours when powering off!

My Meta quest three that I have had has been great best purchase, except for about a month ago.  About a month ago when I was powering off my headset from playing it had an update, so like any other person I waited a few minutes.  Then 20 minutes came and I was curious so I checked on it, and it was still updating so I waited longer.
Then after about 3 hours I was too tired and went to bed.  The next morning I woke up and it was STILL updating, so I got tired of it and just canceled the update now I know it may have not been the best option but hold on.  Then two days later I tried it again and a hour goes by and still the update wasn't done.  It has made it so I can't play any games on it and it sits in my room for now, when I posted this it is updating and I will leave it overnight to see if it does something new. I will stay in touch though I will look at this post every week on Sunday to see if anyone has a solution for this thank you and bye.

Same. For the last 4 days, my Quest 3 has asked me to update before shutting down. I click yes and I leave it charging and with a WiFi connection, but it takes it over 12 hours to update and shut down. I've had this happen a few months ago for 3 days straight, but now it's happening again

I can't believe this is the intended experience, so I think it's some sort of bug. I thought it could be that it doesn't fully update for some reason and I just don't notice it. However, there was a day in between when it didn't ask me to update before shutting down, so I've no idea what's happening

Hey there @IcedragonDKM & @ninjhe! We'd love to help you with this issue you both are having with your Quest 3 being stuck while updating. We want you to get back to enjoying those fun games and apps, so we have a couple of questions to get a better understanding:

  • What troubleshooting steps have you attempted, if any?
  • Have you confirmed that you have a stable internet connection?
  • Have you attempted to reboot the headset? If not, try out these steps.

Let us know if this helps!

I had this happen the other day, and for me it was a pending controller update. Since I usually only use the right controller because I play Minigolf, the left was shut off, and the device kept looking for it to update. Once I moved it around a bit to wake it, the update went through. (I did cancel the shutdown and check notifications about what was happening - there it told me it hat updated the right controller, but not the left. That was my clue)

Hello @ninjhe  I do believe the shutdown update taking long is a bug. When I encountered it, I turned off the wifi on my headset then powered it off. This skips the update and allows your headset to power off normally

Hi! I am currently experiencing the same! The controllers werent rensponsive, I'd see them but couldnt click. I tried restarting when this happened. Any advices how to solve it?

Hi there @krastavi4ka! We understand how important having working controllers are while enjoying your experience in VR, and we are here to help you as best we can! We have a couple of questions to get a better understanding:

  • What device are you using?
  • Have you tried changing the controller batteries? Please attempt and let us know what the LED status is (ex: blinking, solid, or no light at all)
  • Do you have nay third-party accessories attached that may affect power? If so please remove.
  • Can you clarify what you restarted? Did you restart the headset or did you attempt to unpair and pair the controllers?

We are eager to help you!

Hi. On the next day, the process was completed but as I still had no controllers, I changed the batteries and all was good. Untill the end of my game session, when I powered quest 3 down and another long update started...

The device was plugged in to charge the whole time.
