I am currently on my third defective Meta Quest 3 headset in 3 days which I will also need to return... Each headset has been plagued with the same issue of having stuck/dead pixels on either one or both of the lenses/screens. My first headset had a large cluster of about 10 white pixels which covered both lenses (it looked like a constellation map!). The second headset had a bright green pixel in the centre of the right lens. The third and most recent headset has a bright white pixel in the centre of the left lens with a cluster of about 4-5 more around the left side... I am about to return this headset in the hopes that eventually the stars will align and I will be lucky enough to receive a replacement that doesn't have this infuriating defect!
Stuck or dead pixels are unfortunately a common issue with a lot of displays however having one or more on a VR headset totally compromises the functionality and enjoyment of the device. The illusion of 3D space in VR is completely shattered when your eyes constantly catch a bright static dot that is being magnified on a surface only a few centimetres away from your eyes...
I know I'm not the only one experiencing these issues as there are several people on this very forum having the same problems, examples:

I've seen the same thing from users on reddit and other sites having the same problems. I saw some people reporting that they had to go through 7+ headsets until they were lucky enough to get one without defects. That is simply unacceptable.
People often report of hacks and tricks to fix stuck/dead pixels, like displaying strobing or flashing colours, but those are a total fallacy from my experience. As far as I'm aware once this defect has occurred it is permanent, with the only solution being a return/replacement of the affected device.
I've also experienced additional issues with the controllers having loose sticks and stiff triggers. Each headset I've had the issue with has been present on a different stick/trigger. The first one had a loose, loud, clicky stick on the left controller. Then stiff rear triggers on the second pair. Then a loose stick on the right controller with the third headset. But while these issues are very annoying they are minor compared to the screen/lens defects.
I'm aware I am basically screaming into the void here posting this but I just need to air my frustration. I was so excited to get into VR and have been saving up for this headset for months. It feels like such a gut punch to have these issues again and again. At this point I'd probably pay extra to buy a headset from someone with a defect free headset, just to take the stress and disappointment out of this headset lottery. Wish me luck with the fourth attempt...
