Meta Quest 3 apps not loading, then unit crashes and the menu wont even appear

My device recently got stuck with the loading icon and wouldn't move past. I factory reset the unit which then allowed me to get access again. The unit updated and then I installed my apps that were previously loaded. I then tried to open any of the apps and I got an oops message appear on some whilst other times the whole thing would crash with nothing appearing on screen. I could hear sound for the app but there would be nothing in front of me including no hand tracking or hand controller recognition. I also could not bring up any menu screen or anything at that point.

Hello there!

Not being able to access your apps after going through the hassle of performing a factory reset sounds like an total nightmare, but don't fear it is hopefully one that we can help you wake up from!

First of all can we confirm a few details to narrow down what might be causing the problem-

 

  • Are you downloading from the official Meta platform, or from a third-party (Steam, SideQuest)?
  • Did this happen with multiple applications? Are you able to launch any other apps successfully?
  • Has there been any changes to how you use your Quest 3, are you using a link, or has there been any change to your home network?
  • Are you able to regain tracking and recognition when outside of the app you were trying to launch?

 

You can also try these general troubleshooting tips to see if that remedies the situation at all;

1. Check if there any changes to your settings since the reset and restore to how they were originally (Accessible through the phone app if headset unresponsive.)

2. Restart the headset.

3. Log out and back into the phone app.

4. Uninstall the application, restart the headset, and reinstall the application.

5. Perform another factory reset.
