Meta Quest 3 charging dock refuses to charge headset - controllers are ok

MasterErtico
Honored Guest

Starting last week my Meta Quest 3 charging dock has been charging the controllers but after ~4 seconds the light goes out on the headset. The charging dock is 1 month old.

The light on the dock initially goes to amber and then shuts off.

I have made sure that it's not a contact issue. I've already tried lowering the strap arms and also holding it in place with my hands. In addition, I've made sure the 3 contacts are clean.

My Quest 3 charges fine with a USB cable.

Is this a software problem (using v71)? Is the charging dock defective?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey @MasterErtico !

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

We understand that your Meta Quest 3 charging dock is not functioning the way it should and we appreciate you for attempting resolve the issues you are currently facing.

As we intend to look into this for you, could we please request you to confirm if you have attempted the following steps?

  • Ensure the headset is sitting correctly on the dock. You should hear a chime notifying them that the headset is properly docked.
  1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect the device’s ability to sit in the charger correctly (such as headset strap, controller grips or grip covers, etc.)
  2. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or discharging (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.)
  3. If using the Meta Quest 3 Open Facial Interface, make sure it is fully clipped on the headset. There should be no gap at the bottom of the headset
  • Are the LEDs blinking amber/green?
Center LED: unplug and then plug the power back into dock

  • Are all 3 LEDs on the charging dock showing?

Thanks for such a quick response.

Yes, I'm hearing the chime that the headset is properly docked.

The only 3rd party accessory I have is the AMVR Q3FC3 facial interface.

I reinstalled the original facial interface and tried docking the headset and I'm seeing an unusual behavior.

The headset is seated correctly and both the chime and the orange light are coming on, but after a few seconds I hear the chime again, and the charging dock light and headset charging light blink in intervals. Every few seconds it does it again.

It's stuck in this loop of chime and blinking lights. I've tried reseating the headset on the dock repeatedly with the same results.

The controllers are charging with no issues.
