Meta Quest 3 everything vanishes.

Hello,

I just got a Meta Quest 3 today, and I’m running into an issue. I’m not sure if it’s user error or something wrong with the device. Sometimes, all the windows and the environment disappear, and the screen goes black. The display itself stays on, and I can still see the screen borders. The passthrough feature also continues to work.

When I switch between the virtual environment and passthrough, the virtual environment shows up briefly before turning black again. Since I can still see my controllers or hands, and passthrough is working, I don’t think it’s a hardware problem. Restarting the headset fixes the issue, and everything is up to date.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Hey there @Goldfennec!

 

We understand that your VR experience has been interrupted by your headset having display issues. This is not the experience we want you to have. For you to keep enjoying your Meta device we would advise you to:

1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot.

2. Perform a hard reboot:

  • Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
  • If the boot-up sound is not heard:
  • Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
  • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

I went ahead and did a hard reboot, and so far, the issue hasn't reoccurred. If anything changes, I'll reach out again.
