I've recently started recording gameplay footage (using the built-in Meta Quest recording feature) and everything's been great for the past few months, but all of a sudden some issues have come up.
For starters, about a week ago I copied a video over to my PC (via USB), and for some strange reason, my PC refused to play it. I kept getting a notification on my PC telling me that I needed to purchase a $2 "HEVC Video Extensions" app in order to play the video. I was rather unhappy, seeing as I never needed this before, but it was only $2 so I figured I'd just suck it up and pay for it.
Unfortunately, my troubles did not end there. After paying for the $2 app, I noticed that all of the videos had a 0.5 to 1-second audio delay... That peeved me more than I'd like to admit. I'm sure it's the "HEVC Video Extensions" that is causing the audio delay, as there is no audio delay when I'm watching the videos in-headset, but what exactly did you guys change about the built-in video recorder in the first place? Everything worked perfectly last month.
Hopefully this can be fixed, as it's a pain to fix the audio every single time I go to edit a video, especially with these nasty greedy subscription-based video editors.
On a side note, it would be awesome if y'all took a note from Apple and made an in-house in-headset high-quality video editor for the Meta Quest. It'd be real nice to skip the middle man (my PC) and just edit and upload videos directly from my headset.

I agree with your suggestion. Maybe they are trying to preserve original authentic video. Check the VR if it has bitrate settings I think that would a factor with video quality as low bitrate compresses it, however, i think too high of a bitrate will make the quality suffer. Experiment a bit if the VR has this setting, as well as your video editing apps. You can't do 1 thing on 1 product so this creates apps, and developers will get business, etc. by making apps you need to create an amazing video is what I'm assuming. Hope you find a solution.

You seem to have misunderstood: There was no issue a week ago. This is a new issue that suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Also, nothing is wrong with the video/s in-headset. The issues appear only after downloading the video/s to another device via USB or the Meta Cloud Gallery.
Something has been done that needs to be undone or fixed beyond it's current state.
