So, few days ago Meta Quest Link app on my PC updated to PTC v71 and now it opens its window on every PC boot. There is no option to disable this behavior in the app.
What's worse I couldn't even find any registry or Task Scheduler entry that causes it. Seems like Oculus VR Runtime Service suddenly started opening the app on startup (this is the only Oculus/Meta related thing that Windows starts on boot).
Please either revert this change or add option to stop this.

I just rejoined the PTC for the PC app, and am now getting this new startup behavior. At least it's not restarting when I close it like someone else mentioned, but it would be nice if they fixed this before wide release. I would prefer not to change the startup behavior of the background services, as I still want to be able to launch Link directly from the headset.

Hello everyone. Same problem here: Meta Quest Link App window keeps popping up randomly, many times a day, very annoying. Meta, please fix this! Thanks.

I wonder if all people who have those constantly restart of the app are on win 11.
I also can just close the app and it does not restart itself......I'm on win 10.

I'm on Windows 11 and app does not re-open once I close it.

I play Pavlov on PC. The only reason I joined the PTC was to be able to play again because Meta pushed an update for their PC client that broke compatibility with OpenXR titles like Pavlov. This puts players like myself in a position that most hate to be in. I don't like joining the PTC for this reason alone.

I’m on Windows 11 (just built a new PC last month).
The other thing I’ve noticed lately is that after disconnecting Link and closing the app, my system audio doesn’t always switch back to my speakers. Never had that problem in 10 years of using Oculus/Meta software (but I know others have), but that could be the new PC or Windows 11, rather than v71 causing that.

Mine often did this in the past, but not always. One advantage of using the Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) is that you can force it to switch audio/mic input/output when closing the meta link pc app. That works +99% of the time.

Yes, I am having this same issue. There have been times when the application will open automatically then freeze my PC, causing me to open command for task manager to close the application. Sometimes even needing to restart my PC.

Simple fix. I did this and it no longer opens on boot. In services set the 3 Oculus services it manual. Not disabled but manual.

While that can help a little, it doesn't stop ovr oculus runtime services when you exit the meta link pc app. So, next time you startup your PC it will still be running. To get this to work properly, like you say, you need to set the oculus runtime services (you don't need to change or worry about the other 2x services btw) to Manual startup, and then use your windows task manager to run or stop the service. Lots of users have used bat files/exe to do this (google to find) or in my case I use the Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) to turn it on (run) when I startup OTT and off (stop) when I exit OTT.
Aside; In most cases leaving the oculus runtime services on Auto (default) works ok and will only open up on startup if you are connected to the internet and it sees that meta link app updates are available. You can disable auto update in your meta link app settings/general tab and this might help a little.
