Over the past month I have been struggling to get the Meta Quest Link software to work properly on my PC. I’ve been using a Meta Quest 2 and the link software for multiple years now and this is the first time I’ve ran into this issue. I use a Link cable as my internet isn’t good enough for Air Link, and while I’m playing PC car games. After 10-30 minutes, my PCVR session will either boot me to the Quests Home Screen, go black or freeze frame my session and loop the audio. After it does this for the first time it will then begin doing it more frequently to the point where I give up and shut down VR entirely. I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting steps like the firewall, antivirus, making sure my cable is stable and up to spec. My PC greatly exceeds minimum specifications. I’ve reinstalled the quest link app multiple times. Made sure all my drivers are up to date. At this point reinstalling windows is the only option if I want to fix the issue

Hi @Mooshroom48 🙂
..... making sure my cable is stable......
I'd still try a different cable.
I had similar problems a while ago. In my case, it was the cable.
I couldn't see any damage on my old cable, it also wasn't twisted or anything., but a new cable solved my problem.

Yes, sorry, wifi was out for a few days so I couldn't get back to this. I meant to add that the app would perpetually load when opened and would only successfully boot when the OVR service is manually restarted

Discussion with IA Grok on the issue.
New Display Port ALT MODE???
Why DisplayPort Alternate Mode might be involved
Increased complexity: • The addition of DisplayPort Alternate Mode introduces a new way for the Quest to communicate with the PC, treating it as a DisplayPort display in addition to its usual role as a VR headset via Quest Link. This dual functionality can complicate the management of USB-C connections, drivers, and communication protocols. • If the software (Horizon OS or the Oculus PC app) is not fully optimized to handle this mode, it can lead to instabilities, such as connection failures, slowdowns, or crashes.
Hardware and software compatibility: • DisplayPort Alternate Mode requires that the PC, USB-C cable, and headset all support this standard. If a single component (e.g., a non-DisplayPort-compatible USB-C port or a misconfigured GPU driver) is not working properly, it can disrupt Quest Link operation, even for users not actively using this mode. • Nvidia 5000 series GPUs, mentioned in some reports on X, appear to be particularly affected by compatibility issues with v76, which could be exacerbated by the new mode.
