Meta Quest Link not working

Jxrtle
Honored Guest

Hello,

I used to be able to play on my VR with a link cable perfectly fine, but I recently got a new computer, and it doesn't work. I checked the requirements and my PC meets them without question, but whenever I try to connect the headset, my computer gives me messages like "Meta Quest Link isn't working correctly. Click here to check our support article." I checked that article, but nothing seemed to help. The Quest program on my computer shows that my headset is connected and ready to launch, and so does my headset, but when I launch it through the link cable, it just doesn't load, and it stays on a black screen. I've also tried connecting my headset through a USB hub instead of the actual computer to connect it through USB 3, but it still doesn't work.

Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?

Thank you!

I checked all of these and it worked for a second but then it stopped working again.

Thank you for letting us know! Just to be on the same page were you able to update your drivers? We might need to restart the set up again. Please use the following steps and let us know if anything changed:

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

Hey there, @dannylad1990! We know that having link issues and a screen with three loading dots while trying to enjoy the awesome world of VR can cause many questions, so we would love to look further into this for you in order to get you back to a smooth VR experience. Before we start, we would like to thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have already taken. Now, if you can, please try the following to see if it does the trick for you.

Ensure Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe is using the same graphics device as their 2D Desktop. To fix this:

1. Go to Windows Settings > System  > Display > Graphics Settings
2. Click Graphics performance preference
3. Click Choose an app to set preference > Desktop app
4. Locate your OVRServer_x64.exe. By default, this will be located as follows:
     - C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe
5. Click Add
6. Set this to Power Saving then close the settings menu and click Save
    - If this does not work or is already the setting selected, Performance Mode can be tried instead
7. Reset the computer and test VR Desktop

If you are still experiencing link issues after trying this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again, and we will be more than happy to continue to look into this for you. Let us know how it goes!

same for me, none of these "suggestions" are a fix. Time to buy a vive and never look back
