Hello.
I have a Quest 3.
I'd like to know what the resolution setting on the PC app does when it's turned to "Auto".
Thanks for the help.

The auto slider setting is fixed, not dynamic. With a 3070 I think you can get a bit more clarity setting it to 80Hz with res slider at 1.2-1.3x.
HLA does its own dynamic resolution thing so just leave your SteamVR visuals manually (not auto) to 100% and let HLA do its thing.
I suggest setting ODT to all default/zeros except ASW disabled and distortion Low.
Sorry but I don’t think I can add anything else so I’ll sign off this thread now: Good luck mate and cheers.

Even with my rtx4090 this always shows 72Hz recommended with res slider at 1.0x. There is no dynamic feature. I use 80Hz refresh with the res slider full right and I find that this gives me the best balance between clarity and performance. Up to you to experiment with these settings to see what works best for you imho.

Thanks. I have been experimenting (I'm using airlink), and I found the best and most stable results were with leaving it on auto. Hence my question as I'd like to know if auto = leaving it manually at 1.0 or if it does something more. Like check and set resolution based on your hardware or dynamically change it based on performance.

The auto setting doesn’t seem to actually reflect your pc performance. So, use that if that’s what works best for you. If auto at 72Hz/1.0x actually works best it sounds like you don’t have a very strong gaming pc.
With Air Link I set the bitrate on the meta-link home dashboard left icon to 200mbps Dynamic. You may want to experiment with that, say 100-200mbps dynamic.

Thanks for the feedback.
I've played with oculus debug tool but ended up back to default as it seems to do more harm than good.
As for bitrate I played with it to and settled to dynamic at 200mbps.
As for my rig I have a 3070, 16gb RAM and I7 8700k.
I have refresh rate set to 90hz.
I could push resolution to max 1.5 on some games but others would be very unstable.
Alyx was a mess as it seemed to go over VRAM and textures low res.
After much testing I tried going back to auto and everything seem to hold. Tried alyx and expected it to be very blurry but It actually seemed pretty decent.
Hence me wondering what resolution the auto setting uses and if it's fixed or dynamic.
