Meta Quest Link shows Quest 3 is hooked up to USB 3 but Horizon Workrooms says my connection is Poor

I have my Quest 3 hooked up to my Windows 11 laptop with a USB 3.0 cable.

Quest Link on Windows confirms the Quest 3 is linked via USB 3.

Horizon Workrooms on the Q3 says my connection is "Poor."

Uhhhh... how can my connection be poor if I'm not using WiFi and I'm linking directly via USB? There definitely feels like there is a bit of latency in things like mouse cursor movements.

Hi @fuzzybabybunny 🙂

you use a cable connection between Quest and laptop.

But I assume your laptop isn't connected with an ethernet cable to your router?

......this might cause your "poor" connection.

The connection between the Quest 3 and laptop is USB.

Even if my laptop is on WiFi, the connection between the Quest 3 and the laptop should not be on WiFi and it should not be "poor" because the connection is via USB.

My thoughts were.....the pc app is always connected to the internet.

So, if the connection between laptop and router isn't good, it might show you a overall poor connection - no matter how good the USB connection is.

I might be wrong with that......it's just something I would try.🙂

A laptop can easily moved close enough to the router.

Hi @fuzzybabybunny

On top of the tips shared by @Choleni and to look into this further, could you please provide few information:

  1. Is there any error message when you are trying to set up the Meta Quest Link? If yes, could you please share with us the screenshot?
  2.  Has the device ever worked or been connected to the Meta Quest link before? When did you first notice this behavior?
  3. What else changed when you first noticed the behavior? Did any of the devices (phone, headset, or PC) receive any updates?
  4. Does the headset work when it is not connected to a PC?
  5. What type of cable you are using? Try another compatible cable, if possible. For example:
  • Included USB Charging Cable
  • Meta Quest Link Cable
  • 3rd party retail cable (request a URL of the purchase page for the cable if the customer is not able to provide specifics

       6.  Is an adapter or cable extender being used? If possible, remove any adapters from the headset. If your PC does not have enough of the ports needed (HDMI for Rift, Display Port for Rift S) and the use of an adapter is needed, it is recommended to use the adapter with the monitor instead of the headset whenever possible.

Hope this is able to help you with the connection but if you keep running into problems, Please reach back out to us via private message if you are still needing assistance. We hope to hear from you soon!
