Meta Quest Link

My meta quest link app is causing my PC's display to go black and inputs to stop, after a few minutes i need to Force reset my PC or it does it naturally and i cannot figure out why. This has been going on for about a week and i have tried deleting and redownloading my games as well as the actual software for Quest. I am up to date with all my drivers and Quest software.

Hi there!

We understand how annoying it can be when the application causes your PC screen to go completely black, and we would be happy to discuss this further with you to see how we can help.

There are a few things that can cause this kind of symptom outside of the ones that can be resolved by that step, but luckily we can cover tons of them in just a few additional simple steps these steps are a sort of "factory reset" for the application:

  • Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  • Disconnect your computer from the internet
  • Backup any necessary content
  • Reboot into Safe Mode
  • Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel
  • Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  • Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      • Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      • Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      • File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      • Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  • Restart your computer in normal mode
  • Reconnect your computer to the internet
  • Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  • Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset
