Hi, as a lot of ppl with Meta Quest Pro (reddit is quite full of them) I have an issue with the glare, glow, around the edges of the lenses, like a light leakage of some sort...
People already received some replacement units, some of them are better, some the same and other even worst.
I already start the process to replace mine as well because in my case is quite severe and it can be worst than now, before that I did few test and this post is more for the firmware developers than other people, hope they watch this.
When I turn on the device you can see the four corners of the lenses extremely bright and when using the headset as well, in bright image it doens't affect the experience but as soon the enviroment is darker is quite annoying and distracting... here the example of when I turn on the device
I tried Red Matter 2 because I think is at today the only app with local dimming enable and, in RM2, the black are black everywhere, I don't notice anything around the edges... in the welcome screen everything is pitch black beside the words in front of you... was the perfect test... all perfectly uniform, no more glare.
After turning RM2 off everything went back to the normal issue.
My idea is that the firmware update affected some device more than others, the dimming area are on (when it shouldn't) and set to max in the four corners and because we don't have an option to turn it down or off we are stuck with it, but the app with local dimming enable, like RM2, are overriding these settings and put everything in order.
People with this issue can take a look at RM2 and test it? (you can always return the game after that)
@MetaQuestSupport can you take a look at it? @

This issue appears to be backlight bleed. I think it’s a design issue. Meta has not publicly acknowledged it, but like you’ve noticed, has been sending out replacements which have the same problem.

I don’t think is backlight bleed, usually bleed is not this “precise” and the same in every device.
second because if you change game or app it should stay the same but when local dimming kicks in it’s all gone, like in RM2 where everything is perfection with deep blacks
