Hello Everyone!
I have been trying to get Meta Quest Remote Desktop to work for my windows 10 pc for a while now and noticed many people seem to have the same problem as me but no solution. I currently can get it to work on my Microsoft Surface Pro 7 on windows 11 but really want it to work on my other pc.
My issue is I open the app, it asks to login, edge takes me to the login page. I log in. It appears to connect similarly to what it looks like on my surface, but then after a few seconds asks me to login again. I've tried a ton of things to get this to work but no luck (used firefox browser, uninstalled app, uninstalled oculus app, disabled all firewalls, changed monitor resolution, ect)! Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi guys 👋
For anyone still having Remote Desktop login loop issues in 2024 I can look at collecting some details from you to pass on to the engineers 🛠
When I have these details then I can forward them onto the techies to look into further 👀
Thanks guys 🙂

Thanks for the offer but I lost hope to get any serious support from Meta (as a company).
I understand those information are needed to fill out your internal support tickets but in reality it does not matter as it happens to users with different Windows major versions (10 / 11) and over some time span including at least the lasted version of Remote Desktop but very likely previous versions too.
How would the Windows version influence the Remote Desktop app to actively work against users as I listed in my previous post.
I have sent various version numbers of numerous Meta software components for several issues I have... and none helped in the slightest to solve the issue. Asking for those version numbers feels like keeping the customers busy so they stop complaining.

@dedmoin Drop by the Workrooms Community, we are actively helping members try to solve this issue, we've had a few people get it resolved although there still seem to be some challenges for some configurations.
I can definitely understand your frustration, as a community this has been frustrating for us as well!
Some members recently found that uninstalling completely has worked, there's also a new login issue that happens because the latest version of Meta Quest Link also includes a Remote Desktop feature so the two versions conflict with each other, which is another problem all together.
I hope we can help as a community anyone who's still having the issue here but I still know some with custom desktop setups that haven't been able to get it working so it is an ongoing issue.
Sorry to everyone having this issue because I know how great Workrooms can be when it's working correctly, it's disappointing that you can't experience it!

In my case, on Windows 11, the login loop was actually caused by the registry value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\com.oculus.rd\shell\open\command\(Default) being set to "C:\Program Files\Oculus Remote Desktop\Meta Quest Remote Desktop.exe" "%1" instead of "C:\Program Files\Meta Quest Remote Desktop\Meta Quest Remote Desktop.exe" "%1"
Once I manually updated the value using regedit, I was able to login through the browser as expected.
I was only able to see that the association was broken by setting Firefox as my default browser and then examining the error message displayed when I attempted to log in. This error did not display in either Edge or Chrome, so I was unable to troubleshoot the login issue using either of those browsers.

That's when companies spend their money on buying reviews (not even the 'critical' reviews of Q3 mention any of the issues described by lots of peole in this forum) rather than trying to make a good product.
I won't install Remote Desktop anymore. I am pretty sure Meta will have it die soon and let other companies fix their flawed products as part of the Horizon OS being now open to other vendors. It is just sad, they couldn't even make a fully working core product.
I just hope there will be some vendors still trying to produce good VR gaming headset and not all of them are jumping on the Horizon OS social media on lightweight AR headset. Samsung was quite disappointing there be releaseing some glasses, probably only a few 'trendy' people will buy anyways.
