I have chose a new location and it just wont work. I have looked around a bit but found no other solution other than being admin on my PC and that is not a option for me. If anyone has any solutions please help.

Hey there @DD_Dinonuggies! Having errors when trying to set a file location for your downloads can be troublesome, but hopefully we can get this resolved so you can get back to VR on your PC. Lets give the following steps a try, which will be for a full clean reinstall of the desktop client as this should clean up all errors of this nature.

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    1. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    2. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    3. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    4. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    5. C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

I was planning on using airlink does that change anything

Great question, @DD_Dinonuggies! Meta Quest Air Link allows you to wirelessly connect your Meta Quest to your PC using a secure Wi-Fi network and shouldn't have an influence on changing the location for downloads from the Oculus Store. In most cases, you do need admin privileges to change directory information, like the default storage location. Are you still unable to change the download location after completing the steps provided previously?
