Meta Quest link won't work.

It's been a few months since I used PCVR, since I switched to Windows 11, and the windows 11 + meta quest 2 is a horrible experience; laggy fps. So, I recently downgraded to windows 10, because I thought it would fix the fps issue, and now the issue is even worse: I can't even connect to my PC. I have tried multiple times with a Cable Creation 16FT link cable, and another off-brand cable, but to no avail. The desktop app just keeps telling me that something's wrong with Meta Quest link.

By the way, I do have a vr-ready PC, and that Cable Creation cable transmits around 2.5 gbps.

Regardless, I did try uninstalling/installing the desktop app, restarting my PC/Meta Quest 2, and updating my PC. I'm stuck on what to do now, as I have tried the generic solutions listed above. Any real solutions?

Hey there, @sourgy5! We understand you were running into some trouble getting Quest 2 to connect for PCVR. We see you have taken quite a few steps already, which definitely can help us work on this further together. First, we would want to ensure the PC is meeting the requirements for PCVR. From here, please go through the steps below:

  • If there is any active firewall or antivirus, we recommend whitelisting the Quest 2 software to ensure that it has access.
  • Check for any available graphics card driver updates
  • Although some graphics cards can support multiple monitors, the Link can potentially experience issues if more than one monitor is connected. If you are using two or more monitors or displays of any kind, please unplug the extras.
  • Disconnect any USB devices except the headset, keyboard, and mouse, and try the headset in another USB 3.0 port.
  • If possible, try connecting to a different computer.

We appreciate your time, and should it continue, please let us know the exact error encountered. This can help us narrow down the possible cause further. Have a great day!

Alright, I got PCVR to finally work by taking out all other USB devices (not sure why that worked though).

The performance is terrible: massive lag spikes, and bad latency on any vr game I launch. That's probably because my laptop components are worn out after I played PCVR for almost every day from 2020-2023, but it also may be some random bug that screwed up my laptop. By the way, I bought my gaming PC either in 2019 or 2020.

At least I can play PCVR though.

Laptop specs (as requested):

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics, 3.20 GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hey there @sourgy5, we are so happy to hear that you're back in the PCVR world! We understand that your VR games are having a bit of issues and we suggest that the headset is up to its latest version. Also, doing a Factory Reset with Cloud Backup enabled can help, but if there are no changes, then we agree on your statement. Thank you for your patience with this situation, please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
