Hi! A friend of mine with a ROG Zephyrus M16 laptop (https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-zephyrus/2021-rog-zephyrus-m16-series/spec/) with Nvidia RTX 3050 and Intel UHD Graphics is trying to get a Meta Rift Headset working, but is having issues. We determined that the Nvidia Graphics is tied to the display port only (this is not a traditional display port, but a USB-C port that also has display port functionality), so he procured a USB-C to HDMI adapter to make use of this, and the Oculus software detected the HDMI just fine (it had the green checkmark), however, when he loads SteamVR up, he can see the SteamVR homeworld just fine for a few seconds before the picture becomes black.
Even though the picture is black, the normal SteamVR sounds can be heard still. He updated the Nvidia graphics to the latest version (which is March 5th, 2025). The two things we haven't tried yet are updating the Intel UHD Graphics (idk why that would matter since those are incompatible with the headset) and the USB drivers (these could very well be an issue since he's using a USB-C to HDMI adapter). He also tried another cable from my old headset, and that one did not produce any picture, but again, the sounds could still be heard.
Could the cables themselves be the issue here? Or is it something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
