Meta app suddenly wouldn't start, uninstalled and then will not install new version 1.86?

Honored Guest

So i went to fire up Meta Quest app this morning (was working fine with my Quest Pro yesterday).

After 4 or 5 attempts at starting with headset unplugged and plugged.  Still no luck.

Firewall and Anti-virus both completely shut down.

Updated nVidia drivers.

On a couple of occasions the setup app seemed to be about to start but then the black square in the middle of the desktop just disappeared.

So i uninstalled and deleted ALL oculus and oculus related folders/files on my PC incl. in Users\XXX\AppData\Local, LocalLow and Roaming.

Also deleted all registry entries related to oculus software with Revo Uninstaller.

Several restarts/shutdowns etc. Still oculussetup.exe won't start or crashes after 3-4 seconds.

Searched online.

Tried ALL the steps on this page:

https://smartglasseshub.com/oculus-software-not-installing/

Unplugged all devices except keyboard and mouse.

Nothing works?

See log file text below.

Any help appreciated.

Not sure what your problem is mate.  My QPro continues to work great with both Link and Air Link.  I'm sorry I can't help by looking at parts of your log file.  I suggest you start a ticket with meta support and include your log files to see if they can identify your problem.  Good luck mate and cheers.

Hey there @stu.burling! We know how this can impact your experience from using your Quest Pro to the fullest it has to offer. Not to worry though, we will do everything we can to help or work with you to get this resolved!

We see you've done some troubleshooting yourself, and that's great! We are just going to piggyback off of that and ask some additional troubleshooting questions and steps to follow.

  • Have you attempted to install the app on a separate system drive?
  • Can you provide us what your PC specs are?
  • Check to make sure you have enough hard drive space for the install.

Once you answered these and nothing still works we recommend you to shoot us over a PM so we can further deep dive into this.
