*SCROLL DOWN FOR ACTUAL ISSUE, SORRY FOR THE NOVEL*
I have only had my quest 3 for a day. I essentially chose it as a much more portable option for playing steam VR while travelling for work.
So far, I love it. It reminds me of my index in many of the best ways.
But my issue is with the oculus "dash" or whatever you'd call it while oculus link is active. It looks like a little round menu around your belt area. It pops up as I get steam VR connected. I see that it's treated as a required layer, even though "oculus killer" exists for a reason...
Anyway, I'd rather not have to resort to that. I much prefer to solve an issue by identifying the culprit.
SYMPTOM:
When I'm playing Steam VR, if I hit the meta button on the right controller, it brings up the oculus dash/menu bar. This will bring ALL performance to a screeching halt, likely crashing the game and bringing the headset's frame rate down to single digits. 🤢
Windows 11, Alienware 14 i7, (decent ram, don't remember how much, RTX 3050 (I think it's 6gb)
My performance in game is nothing to frown at. So I'm wondering if anyone knows what I should check.

Hey there, @SheddingShadow. We see that you are having some issues with PC VR on your Alienware PC.
Since you mentioned using it on the go, and Alienware is usually laptops, we wanted to first mention that RTX 3050 Laptop GPUs are not recommended for VR as they commonly have problems with PC VR in general. We understand that some users mention it works, however, we are limited in providing support for issues related to any RTX 3050 Laptop GPU.
That being said, we would be happy to provide some suggestions that could help you out:
If you continue to have issues, then hopefully someone else may have some input that helps you out. Otherwise, we encourage you to look into the recommended specifications for Meta Quest Link PC VR and ensure you have a compatible system.

Thank you so much for your reply and yes I have done some more research since then. It looks like the 3050 is just kind of a mixed bag. It's weird because it gives me more issues than my old 1070 did.
But yes I don't foresee Oculus being the culprit so thank you for your help!
