Meta has replaced all support with AI bots

They deny it... but there is ZERO evidence that are real people handling your case (except in chat, where they have no actual power to help you).

I am on WEEK FOUR of my 10 year old child's account being suspended (making the $500 Quest a worthless brick) because, out of nowhere, they demanded I upload my MINOR CHILD'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Sure... they'll talk about an "appeal process"... but don't be fooled. THERE ISN'T ONE. I have asked at least TEN times for a link to the appeal site, and I get a response that is as if they never read ANY of the history... In chat, everyone TOTALLY understands why I wouldn't trust THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT MY SON WILL EVER OWN with a company that has been sued multiple times for SELLING OUR DATA...

To rub salt in the wound, they said they would suspend the account on the 26th of February, and then suspended it eight days EARLY.

This company is pure evil. They waited until my "return window" closed to return the headset to Amazon... so we're just stuck in a loop.

Meta employees will also admit that it's a wide-spread issue, and LOTS of people are having it... but they ALSO say they can't do anything in chat, and that it ALL has to be done via email, where they can ignore you and EVERY email will be a totally different employee.

I reached out here, and got private messaged... and the back and forth started going, and then they said to watch my email... and no change... I get an email that has no indication that they are reading it.

META HATES US. We are not corporations with ad revenue... we are DATA.

This is extremely questionable parenting to allow your minor child to use an Internet-connected product from a company you believe is "pure evil". And there is nothing for you to appeal. That's why you can't find a resource to.

Oh, look! It's a real internet troll! I've heard of you incels, but have never seen one! SO COOL!

I'll feed the little troll now! I monitor my son constantly online (we usually play together). When I first got my original Oculus, the EVIL company hadn't purchased them yet, so I was already invested.

Meta employees keep stating that it CAN be appealed, but you seem to be the expert on appeals... and you're (not surprisingly) very wrong. My son is 10, and the terms of service stated that he can be on the Quest using a parent-managed account. I set that up, and there was no issue... META suddenly decided to request ID for a minor. They should accept MY ID, since that's what the setup states: that I'll have to provide my child's birthdate. If I needed his birth certificate to purchase it or even to create his account, OK... fair enough... I could have just returned it (much like your parents wanted to do with you when you were born a toxic piece of garbage).

...but go ahead and defend the villain.

Awww! Look! He's eating right out of my hand! These internet trolls are SO RARE... mostly because they die alone without ever reproducing. So sad!

I've been dealing with the same crap for weeks. Today it worked though! I used my voter ID instead of license thinking they use a visual scan in the headset to match to your ID photo...but there's no photo on a voter ID so it was approved 😉

Unfortunately, at 10, he's not quite old enough to vote. 😀

Ha, yeah I noticed your problem was slightly different than mine after I posted a response and couldn't find a way to delete my comment. I found your post today while searching the issue I was having.

Is your regular account suspended? Mine and my kid's was but by fixing the ID thing on mine it opened access to both. If they're just using bots to approve, there's gotta be a way to trick it.

I wish you the best

What you are describing is the sunken cost fallacy (look it up) in addition to abhorrent parenting. Just because you sunk thousands of dollars into the VR ecosystem does not excuse exposing your minor son to an Internet-connected product from a company you vehemently believe to be pure evil. I would never in 100 years expose my children to something that I believed was pure evil.

After some thought, I deleted my message. I'm realizing you're a lonely sociopath, and I'm not engaging with you. I hope you find some shred of happiness in life OTHER than trolling people looking for help (I looked you up... it's a hobby of yours).

Be better.

You are engaging with me and have been doing so for 3 hours now. If you don't want to continue to, that's certainly your right to do so. I wish the best in the world for your son.

Just to wrap this thread up... it took just over 8 weeks, but we got to the bottom of it. The account was seemingly corrupt (Meta never fully explained this), so I created a new account for my son, and they gave him credit for everything he had lost. Then we figured out that a preteen account can't purchase anything. THAT took another THREE weeks to have them move the credit to MY account... and now the issue is resolved 100%.

...but this is not acceptable customer support. The second part (the credit move) was relatively fast at first. I emailed them that he couldn't buy anything. They replied 2 days later with the explanation and the offer to move the credit to my account... I replied that I accepted that solution, and then I stopped hearing from them. I emailed them over and over, and reached out to a moderator on these forums... no response. Reached out to the mod again, and THAT finally got the gears moving again.

It's just not acceptable customer service.
