So my meta quest 2 goes black after the logo loading screen appears when I turn on my headset, this started after the most recent update. I've tried literally everything meta advises you to do. Hard reboot. Reset. Factory reset. Charge it. Etc. It was fine before the update. Almost at full charge actually. Then it updates and BAM. Doesnt. Work. I can't get a replacement bc its out of warranty and can't afford a new one or refurbished one bc let's face it. I'm broke AF. I just bought a new game too with savings.
Is anyone else having this issue???

If you're still having this issue after trying the hard reboot, I'd recommend reaching out to support through a support ticket here or send a private message to @MetaQuestSupport here on the forums, so your warranty status can be looked into. In order to send a private message to support, click on their hyperlinked name to visit their profile. From there, you can click "Send a Message" to privately message! I am in the same boat. I did everything and since last update I can't see anything. The sound works fine but the black screen is still there.

Dang. Ok so this isn’t just me then. Sorry that it’s happening to you too. It sucks. Tried everything and it’s as good as broke. Hopefully they issue another update that fixes this, but even then how would we update it if it can’t get past the logo? Idk. Ugh this is horrible.

@livgamemaddy it happened to my 128gb just got off the chat support and was told since its out of warranty they cant replace it. Of course now its a brick and unusable. $159 for a replacement stinks when its either a faulty proximity sensor or a bad software issue. My factory reset lasted 2 seconds instead of normally about 10min. and it just black screens at the pairing controller screen and thats it. Pretty upset about it.

also seems like it has something to do with the tracking. I've noticed that when the dot in the center for tracking moves it does so like its stuttering. it'll be in the center then at the top. then back to the center. doesnt allow clicking on anything with the volume up and no controllers . so at this point its a parts headset. sucks cuz my 64gb headset is still going strong

Dang. Sorry this happened to you too. My headset was working perfectly until it updated. All I get is the logo and then black nothingness with the audio that you hear when it wants you to make the guardian boundary. Can’t do anything. It’s sucks that meta can’t do anything besides offer a refurbished one that I could buy that’s slightly cheaper bc mine is out of warranty. Very upset myself. At least we know it isn’t something WE did.

Well kind of an update. I swapped my front cover that goes around the lens (6 screws to take it off) and the sensor that's in between your eyes (proximity sensor) comes off with one ribbon cable. Took all of 5 minutes to do. swapped it with the one from my 64gb headset that worked. Same outcome as i had before. the sensor from the 128gb works fine in the 64 gb. So its not my sensor. Possibly a bad camera since it uses them for tracking. Unplugging the sensor didnt let the OS boot.
I have a second headset but would be nice to have this one working too.

I'm having the same issue too... update now everything renders black but the guardian... it all showed up on the phone app as normal so i power cycled, factory data reset and even sideloaded updates all the way up to V59... support will only sell me a refurbished unit for 150 because mines out of warranty... that would be fine if I was the one to break it but their update bricked my device... ive scheduled a consultation with a class action lawyer on the issue because this is bs
