Hi opened my sons brand new and sealed meta quest 2 this morning for his main Christmas present. Switched it on it fired up straight away going through the settings like a breeze no issues connected to Wi-Fi etc. then a pop up to update it so I did. From there disaster strikes it finished the update then the screen went black on but black so I thought leave it be, we went out for lunch 3 hrs later came home still black. My son crying. So searched your site for help. Followed instructions ( hold volume dwn and power button) till boot menu and factory reset. So I did that got to were there was a chip with a green bar at bottom when the bar was full it switched itself off, so I tried switching it back on an hour later to get nothing won’t switch on no led to show it’s charging nothing how can your update do this to a brand new and sealed quest 2 ?? It was working fine until I pressed the button to update please help. I’ve tried holding power button for 30 - 60 secs nothing

Don’t waste your time trying to use the update tool going through the process you’ll need to be in boot menu pressing vol dwn & power for it to connect ( mine doesn’t switch on )

Has anyone hit anywhere with this? I’ve been into support and they are saying they are aware of the issue but have no solution at this time! They will keep the chat open and email me with updates. But have no time frame! It seems that if I hadn’t followed the original advice and performed a factory reset there may have been a chance to fix the black screen using a laptop. But after the factory reset it seems to have killed the battery as o have no led light coming on even when charging! So it seems like this whole process has fried the battery and they are now scratching their heads with no solution !! Convenient given the quest 3 is now out ….

I’m in the same boat my son got his and used it for 3 days then updated it and it won’t turn on or even light up when charging

I’ve been offered a replacement refurbished headset at no cost now. However it only comes with a 3 month warranty, and ours was practically brand new. It makes me very nervous ! Ans some people I know have been told they will have to pay for a new one, they’ve had to argue that and eventually met have conceded - all seems very dodgy to me !
