Meta quest 3/ random restarts

My device started randomly restarting during gameplay every 10-20 min. I read in some forums that i shoild perform a system reboot. I tried to follow the reboot procedure exactly.

1. I hold the power button and volume down button for 10 seconds to access the menu.

2. Using the volume buttons, i highlight the reboot option and press the power button to select it.

3. Confirm reboot by choosing yes with the volume buttons and press the power button to select it.

The problem is step 2. When i press the power button to select reboot, i dont get step 3. The screen goes black and the meta quest icon shows up and the device restarts. Seems like like the reboot isnt taking place at all.

Hi @Quacktain 🙂

if I understand you correctly, you want to perform a factory reset, right?

To do that it needs four steps, not three as you mentioned.

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Is it possible you haven't turned off the headset before pressing the volume/start button?

Factory reset your Meta Quest headset

Hey there, @Quacktain! We'd be glad to lend a hand to help you with your reboot so you can get your Meta Quest 3 working great again! Also, @Choleni, thanks for helping out a fellow user!

@Quacktain, please be sure to do the following steps for your reboot:

  • Turn off your headset.
  • Hold down the power button and volume-down button simultaneously until you hear the boot-up sound.
  • If the boot-up sound is not heard:
    • Hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Also, you are going to want to make sure your battery is not low; if it is, charge your headset for at least two hours.

If you still cannot quite do the reboot, please try the following, as the issue could have something to do with the proximity sensor:

  • If the eyeglass spacer is in use, confirm it is seated correctly and is not blocking the proximity sensor.
  • Ensure your facial interface is seated correctly and is not blocking the proximity sensor.
  • If you are using an unsupported third-party facial interface, please remove it.
  • Ensure nothing is getting inside the headset under the facial interface, such as hair.
  • Change the Auto-Sleep timer to anything longer than 15 seconds
  • To access the Auto-Sleep settings:
    • Access the universal menu by pressing the image.png Menu button on the right Touch controller.
    • Select the Quick Settings panel (the area with the clock) to view the device settings. image.png

    • Click the image.png Settings button in the upper right corner.
    • Click the System tile.
    • Select the Power menu to access the Auto-Sleep setting.

Please let us know if your headset still continues to restart during gameplay or if the issue is resolved. We look forward to your update!

On a different note, if you're into games and looking for a new way to have some fun, you might enjoy exploring casino-style games. For example, if you're into slots, check out blinko vélemények  , which offers exciting gameplay and the chance to win big with jackpots. It’s a fun way to relax and potentially win some extra cash while you’re at it!

Some platforms do allow you to delete or edit your review, but the process can be a bit tricky at times, especially if the option isn’t functioning properly.
