So basically, my headset has been bugging out. I’m not sure if it was because I used a different charger than its own one, but pretty much, i was playing gorilla tag, got off, did the usual, but I had setting I didn’t want to have to redo with sidequest, so instead of fully turning my headset off, I just put it in sleep mode. I was only able to do this the first time I did it, the second time I put it to sleep mode, I was going to show a friend a cool thing I learned, and I tried turning my headset on, and it was on the meta startup logo. Just turning on and off. I’m not sure how to explain it. But the startup would happen, I wouldn’t go anywhere past it, not even the logo spinning would happen, it would just turn on, and then suddenly black screen, then turn on again, and so on in an infinite regress. So I searched stuff up, decided maybe it was the charger (I was using my Chromebook charger cause it was faster than the meta quest 3 charger) Chromebook charger worked fine when I used it so it couldn’t be a faulty problem. So I plug in my oculus charger, it was 4 am in the morning so I went to bed hoping for the best. Turned it on the next day, it worked, BUT this time, the logo would spin for longer than usual, startup sound would play, and the. When I got past the logo which was like 3 seconds longer than usual, it would just be a gray screen, I can see the menu for when you hold the power button, the controllers won’t pair, the other stuff would work such as the volume buttons and eye adjustment, I am confused because why is everthing working except for practically the display, like the display works but it doesn’t. and so I searched stuff up, tried to boot device, tried to factory reset it, tried to go into android recovery, I tried to clean the sensor and take the interface off just in case that was the problem, tried blowing into the charging hole, I tried literally everything. When I factory reset, I saw the place your stuck at to set everything up before you can play, only saw the background, for like a second, and then gray screen just fades in. I’m currently attempting to let it fully die to 0% and then using the oculus charger instead of the Chromebook one, charge it back up to 100%. If this doesn’t work I’m asking for any other ideas if not I’ll just use warranty for a new one

Hey there, I had a similar problem this week. My headset would boot up with the logo, then a dark gray screen and then it would go black. Turns out the issue was related to the user presence sensor above the lenses. I always had covered these with tape to keep my headset on. No issues until this week. I tried everything I'm sure you've tried too, then removed the tape and it worked normally again. Not sure why this would start to be an issue suddenly, unless there was a firmware update that changes the way the system works with the sensor.
In case you want to run the battery all the way down, you can place a tight rubber band around the headset. Move the band over the power button, then place a small object (must be around 5mm or taller to be effective) between the rubber band and the power button to hold the button in.
At least when I contacted Meta through the mobile app, they were helpful and issued me a return authorization without any trouble. Wishing you the best in getting it resolved!
