MetaQuest 3 - unable to add aditional account?

Chuck2626
Honored Guest

After reading all the support help under "Multiple accounts and app sharing".

I'm still am unable to add an additional account to my headset.
Would anyonr be able to walk me though this procedure?  Thank you.

Additional Info and steps taken.
I created an administrator account on my headset and also on my mobile meta app.
Only have 1 account attached to headset. (Which is My account as administrator).

1. When I click on add account, under the account setting on headset.

2.  I receive an 8 character code to enter though browser under meta.com/device. (I already done this when I set up my account the first time).  Went though these steps anyway bc there was no other options for adding an additional account.

3.  Entered the code through browser link.  Then I get a screen requesting me to enter my work email. ( I dont know what a "work email " is,  so I entered the only email I have and use."
4. I Enter my email address and clicked on Next button.
5. I received this msg. "It looks like there isn't an account associated with that email. You entered: _@gmail.com. Please check your details and try again"

6. That is the only email address I have and it's spelled correctly.

7. My end goal is to add my wife ( she also has a quest 3 with hown account attached to her headset) To my headset so we can share multiplayer games together.
8. What am I doing wrong and how can I rectify this?
9. If I delete my account and start from scratch, will i lose all my game purchases?
Thank's again for addressing my problem.
Chuck

Hey @Chuck2626! We would love to help you and your wife enjoy the same games through app sharing. We can go ahead and provide you with the steps on how to add additional accounts and after that how to use app sharing. please follow the steps below:

To add additional accounts to your Meta Quest headset:

  1. Create the new Meta account and pair the account with a mobile phone using the Meta Quest mobile app.
  2. From your headset, press / on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  3. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  4. Select Settings in the top right corner, then select Accounts.
  5. Select Add Account in the top right corner.
  6. From your mobile phone, go to www.meta.com/device and enter the 8 digit code from your headset.
  7. From your headset, complete the initial setup including logging in, adjusting headset fit, and setting up Guardian.
    • If you don't already have an unlock pattern set up for your headset, you will be asked to create one before adding additional accounts to your device.

Once you’ve added an additional account to your Meta Quest headset, you can share purchased apps from your admin account with additional accounts on the device by turning on App Sharing.

To turn on App Sharing from your device:

  1. Press / on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.

Hi @Chuck2626

How you describe it, you try to add your account to your admin account.

Your wife has to be looged in with her account in the mobile app and give in the code.

It's her account that you want to add not yours, right?

About app sharing and play games together....you can't play a shared game at the same time on two devices.

Unfortunatly, for playing together, each account needs to buy the game.🙁

same thing happens when i use desktop version

Hello there, @Envixity.2010! Additional accounts are such a great way to share the VR experience with friends and family, so we're eager to help you get your own added! By the way, we do want to mention that secondary accounts cannot be added through the Meta Quest Link desktop app. Instead, the account would need to be created and paired through the Meta Quest mobile app. Once the account is paired, you should be able to pull up the "Quick Settings" on your standalone headset to add the additional account. Further in-depth instructions for this process are located in this article. Let us know which step in particular is giving you issues and we'll be glad to assist with that!
