Mountains constantly in all personal environments on Meta Quest

I'm currently using the Oculus Quest and ever since the option was given where you can (slightly) walk around the environment, every personal environment background has some purple mountains instead of what background scene should be there. Whether it's the space station or cyber city, there's no stars or buildings to look out at. Just a mountain range. I've disabled and enabled all VR settings concerning the barrier nit nothing seems to stop it.

sounds like you might have the "custom skybox view" set to a mountain.  the custom skybox view is the 360 wallpaper behind the environment.  you can manually change it in the virtual environments settings.  try going to the virtual environment setting, click the arrow next to custom skybox view, and try resetting or removing the setting.

Hello @burrmartin! We would love to go ahead and provide you with information on how to change your personal environment. It can be very exciting to customize environments when enjoying VR! You can change the default home environment you see in VR when using the universal menu and browsing apps.

To change your virtual environment:

  1. Press / on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  3. Select Settings in the top right corner.
  4. Select Personalization.
  5. Select the home environment you want to use. You may need to download the environment before you can apply it.

We hope this helps. If you need any additional assistance, feel free to reach out to us anytime!

Sorry. I know how to change environments. The problem is, the ENTIRE environment isn't changing.

For example, when I pick Cyber City, the window stopped showing buildings and now shows a mountain range.

So if I change it to spaceship from there, the window in the room does not change and still shows a mountain range instead of space.

The window on all environments (excluding outside settings like Winter or bubbles) have the same mountain range view.

Hey @burrmartin! thank you so much for clarifying, We weren't sure if it was not changing even after selecting the different environments. Now that we have a better understanding of the issue lets go ahead and try some basic troubleshooting steps. We would like to request that you start out with trying to do a hard reboot. Turning the headset off is recommended over just restarting. If that does not do the trick we can recommend trying a Factory reset.

Below we have provided instructions for both troubleshooting steps.

Hard Reboot the headset

  1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound.
  2. If the boot-up sound is not heard, enter the USB Update Mode and select "Boot Device".

Cloud Backup before Factory Reset

Performing a Factory reset will wipe all information and data off the device. Some of this data can be restored by enabling Cloud Backups beforehand. However, keep in mind that while Cloud Backup is available to all Meta Quest developers, it's up to developers to decide whether to enable this feature for their app and what data is backed up. You can find which installed apps have Cloud Backups enabled on the Cloud Backups page of your Meta account profile. Once you've set up Cloud Backups, ensure your device is fully charged, then proceed with the directions.

Factory Reset from Meta Quest mobile app

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

We hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to us for any further assistance!

Awesome! That did it! No idea when I would've done that, but it's fixed. Thanks a ton.

Hey @skippington! Thank you so much for providing the community with that information. @burrmartin we are so glad you were able to get this resolved and enjoy the different views!
