Multiple accounts on quest 2, but can't pair on second account.

Hi,

Can anybody help!

I have managed to add a second account on my oculus quest 2 headset and all the apps are showing as I choose to share them, but I cannot pair the headset on the second account App, it searches and does not find it and does not pair after entering the 5 digit code.

If your granddad has the admin account logged in on his phone, and you have a secondary account logged into your phone, you will not be able to pair to your phone. In order to pair your headset to a phone, you will need to be logged into the admin account on your mobile app.

If you and your granddad are interested in changing the admin account on the headset from his to yours, you can always perform a factory reset and set up your headset using your account as the admin. Just know that this will delete all content from the headset itself, and if you are using app sharing you can only share apps from the admin account on your headset.

This is definitely a requested feature.

Especially now with these suppervised accounts for our kids.

Like for me who have given my headset to my son and has my accout as admin. He on the otherhand would love to be able to controll his headset with the app. Not to mention be able to cast to his phone. But as long as I'm admin and paired this is not possible.

Please alow for secondary accouts to link to headset if they are logged in.

Agreed.  Bought this for my daughters who live with their mom. I’m in the Navy, and the girls spend the majority of their time at their mom’s house.  They should be able to enjoy the system just as much when I’m not present.  It’s issues like this that make me wish I would have just bought them the new VR for the PS5.  Was expecting more from the quest 3.

I have spent hours searching this topic also. The headset will allow you to add the second and third account however you can not pair the headset to the second device on the meta quest app. It tells you to look for a 5 digit code that is no where to be found. Pretty inconvenient if a second parent wants to cast or monitor a childs playtime while the other is at work. There doesn't seem to be a work around other than pairing the device with a tablet or something that will remain with the admin account on it with the headset. 

It's so annoying though I am trying to pair a new controller and I cannot because I cannot access the accounts centre

Same mine is on my dad's! And i am not there every day!!!

Hey @carys93! We would love to help you with pairing your new controllers to your headset. We completely understand how important this step is to your VR experience! We would like to have a better understanding of what is preventing the controllers from being paired. Please provide details or any error messages so we can provide the best solution. We can also provide this article which goes over pairing  and unpairing touch controllers to your Meta Quest.

I am working at Malmo university (Sweden) and it seems that I have a similar problem as the other users in this thread. 

We (at my institution) are currently trying to set up an VR-simulation with another universtity (in Hong Kong). I have therefore borrowed  a pair of Quest 3 from an colleague. Since the colleague is admin on the headset it is impossible for me to pair the headset with the Meta phone app.  

In order to create the simulation with the students I need to be in developer mode in the phone app, I have created a developer account thru Meta but now I can´t pair the headset with the phone app - which is fundamental. 

My colleuge wants stay on as admin, she doesnt want to do any factory reset. 

Are there any solution to this problem? / Peter H (Sweden) 

Hey hey @Peter_Hellman, and welcome to the forums! I think it is so awesome how VR headsets are being used now, and if you're open to it you should definitely share more about what you're working on in the VR Experiences board!

I wish I could help you with a workaround for this, but the current functionality is to only allow the admin account to pair to the mobile app. If you need to use your own account as the developer account, you'll have to be the admin. 

It's completely up to your colleague if they want to factory reset so that you can do this. One thing that could be worth mentioning to them if they are considering doing this for you is to use cloud backup. While a factory reset is needed to switch the admin accounts, most apps these days are supported by cloud backup and that would save your colleagues progress in the supported apps. 

I'd also suggest posting on the Ideas board if being able to pair additional accounts (or using dev mode on additional accounts) is something you're interested in.
