My Facebook Accounts Were Hacked!

samibozkurt

A few weeks ago, I noticed an unauthorized login to my Facebook account. Luckily, since my email address and phone number were linked to the account, I was able to reset my password. However, due to a different email address added by the hackers and the two-factor authentication (2FA) linked to it, I was unable to log into my account. I already reset my password using the "Forgot My Password" option, but because of the hacker’s added email and 2FA, I still couldn't access my account.

Over the course of this process, I’ve reset my password every single day, but I’ve still not been able to bypass the 2FA. I’ve sent emails to numerous Facebook email addresses, but I haven't received any responses. I researched connecting to live support, but I was unsuccessful. After exhausting all these methods, I decided to post here on the Meta forum.

I tried various verification methods provided by Facebook, including submitting my ID for the verification process, but all it resulted in was a code to change the password. I had already done this by using the "Forgot My Password" option. Unfortunately, I still couldn’t bypass the email and 2FA added by the hacker, and as a result, I couldn’t recover my account. Facebook did not assist me in bypassing these security measures, and that's why I haven’t been able to recover my account.

This happened to me years ago, in 2018, when my Instagram account was also hacked. At that time, the hackers added 2FA to my Instagram account. After researching the issue, I learned that I had to send an email from the email address linked to my Instagram account, stating that I didn't add the 2FA myself. I did this, and Instagram sent me a one-time 2FA code to help me regain access.

I applied the same method to my Facebook account years later, but unfortunately, I received no response. When I sent a password reset request, I noticed that instead of my name, it said "Deleted Account." This seems to indicate that my account was most likely deleted.

My Instagram account was also connected to my Facebook account, and hackers had accessed it as well. Luckily, since two-factor authentication was not added to my Instagram account, I was able to reset my password and recover my Instagram account. However, to prevent my Instagram from being hacked again through Facebook, I immediately disconnected the link between Instagram and Facebook.

I'm posting this message via the Meta forum, registered with the same email address used for my Facebook account, and a few weeks ago, it was still linked to my Facebook account. I’ve sent multiple emails to Facebook support, asking for help to recover my account, but I haven't received any response.

I’d like to emphasize that my Facebook account means much more to me than just an account. I’ve been using Facebook since 2009, and over the years, I’ve saved my wedding photos, my children’s birth pictures, all their growing up moments, and even photos from when they were accepted into university. These precious memories are all stored in this account. Losing my account is a huge loss for me. Therefore, I urgently request that my account be restored.

I ask Facebook to help me in this matter and to speed up the response time for such cases. For someone like me, who has stored valuable memories on this platform for years, the recovery process shouldn't be this difficult. I’m looking forward to your help and assistance.

Hello @samibozkurt ,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Since you’ve already reset your password but are stuck due to the hacker's added two-factor authentication (2FA) and email, here’s a step-by-step approach that may help you regain access:

Step 1: Try the "Report Compromised Account" Option

Go to https://www.facebook.com/hacked and follow the instructions. This method is specifically designed for recovering accounts taken over by hackers.

Step 2: Use "Confirm Identity" Method

1. Visit https://www.facebook.com/login/identify and enter your email or phone number.

2. If your account appears, follow the recovery steps. If the system asks for 2FA but doesn’t allow you to bypass it, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Submit an ID for Verification

Since you've already tried submitting your ID but only received a password reset option, try this alternative method:

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/183000765122339.

2. Upload a clear photo of your government-issued ID.

3. In the description, explain that a hacker added their email and enabled 2FA, preventing you from logging in, and request to regain access.

Step 4: Check If Your Account Was Disabled or Deleted

If your account was mistakenly disabled, submit an appeal via https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/260749603972907.

If your account shows as "Deleted Account," it’s possible the hacker deleted it. In that case, Facebook may still have a recovery window of up to 30 days. Try logging in at https://www.facebook.com/ and check if there’s an option to restore your account.

Step 5: Secure Your Instagram and Other Linked Accounts

Since your Instagram was linked to Facebook, you did the right thing by disconnecting them. Additionally:Change your email password to prevent further unauthorized access.

Enable Login Alerts on Instagram and other social media accounts.

Final Option: Contact Meta Business Support

If none of the above steps work, you will likely need direct support from Meta’s Business Help Center. However, Meta generally prioritizes Meta Business Partners and business accounts for live chat or email support.

Here’s what you can do:

1. If you or someone you know owns a Meta Business Account, they can contact support on your behalf.

2. They can visit https://business.facebook.com/help/support/ and access the "Get Help" or "Live Chat" option (if available in their region).

3. Once they reach a Meta support agent, they should explain your situation and request account recovery assistance.

If you can get support from the Meta Business Help Center, your issue has a high chance of being resolved successfully.

I hope this helps! Let me know by replying here if you need further clarification.

Thanks

Hello, there is still no solution proposal from the Facebook authorities. I am still waiting. Isn't there any Facebook moderator who can respond?

@MetaQuestSupport

Hello @samibozkurt ,

It's a community forum for meta quest so here you will get help about meta quest and you never get any help from Facebook support or Instagram support team from here.

To get help with your Facebook or Instagram you need to go Facebook or Instagram help centre and to get live chat support you need to go business help centre.

Thanks

I'm sorry, but Facebook doesn't have chat or moderators. We are completely on our own. When a mod will reply on here, it is just to go to the FB help page, which as we know, does not help.
