The hacker has linked his meta horizon account to my Instagram and taken full admin control of shared accounts. I have no more details than just the mail address [REDACTED] of the meta horizon user. This has become an quite common issue from meta and I hope you have solution for this Also the username of Meta horizon showing in my insta is Vijayml, who currenhas access to my instagram account. Could you please temporarily/permanently unlink so that i can relink it with my own meta account. Also I am unable to reply to the private messages in the community forum of metaquest

I am now stuck with this same exact issue. A hacker has attached his meta horizon account to my instagram account and now controls the profile and account settings and I cannot unlink it from my instagram. Instagram has done the biometric verification and restored my access but once I change my accounts password, the hacker is notified and he uses his linked meta horizon access to re-secure my Instagram account changes my recovery email to his, changes the password and I’m locked back out again. The hacker is using 2F auth on his linked meta account so I cannot regain access to my own Instagram using any of the recovery methods sent to me by Instagram.
After successfully removing the malicious meta horizon account from my instagram, both Facebook and Instagram decided my accounts were in violation of their community standards and account integrity and have suspended my accounts pending review. I submitted an appeal and after review, Facebook decided I’m can be reinstated but am restricted from advertising while instagram decided my account was still in violation and would be permanently disabled and could not be appealed. No explicit reason was provided for what was causing the infraction. I am not an influencer. I do not sell or advertise anything beyond the random household item on Facebook marketplace around once a year. I don’t know if the malicious meta horizon user changed any settings that would flag my account as a potential target for scams. Meta/facebook/instagram provided no assistance in identifying the specific infractions, just disabled, suspended and deleted. So the days spent trying to regain access to my accounts, verifying my identity via biometric selfie video, uploading id, etc. were all in vain. The decision cannot be challenged. Facebook’s safety guardrails were a little bit better than instagrams but both failed to keep me safe from a malicious hacking attempt and then punished me for their poor safety standards by restricting or disabling my account altogether. I’m not an influencer, I do not have huge reach, I do not send out daily campaigns or make daily posts. I’m a very typical user that under regular circumstances should not be on the radar for any kind of mal activity detectable by safety watch bots. My guess as to why this happened was because I asked friends to report my account whenever it was first under hacker control. As friends would start direct texting me that they though my account was hacked due to the posts announcing that I had made tens of thousands of dollars and I wanted to show them how, I would respond, yes, my account was hacked can you please report the account. These reports from friends I believed would help me regain access to my account were in the end what flagged ig to review and disable my account. IG security was days behind the problem. So by the time meta horizon had caught up and deactivated the malicious hacker account, and I had regained access and removed it, it was just getting the report flags and completely disabled my account. What a frustrating mess.
I documented what I could see if it’s at all helpful to anyone.
My first incline that I’d been compromised came from Facebook, letting me know I changed my hometown.
Facebook asked me to confirm my identity. And I was able to almost immediately resecure my facebook account. I noticed this meta horizon account using my name and picture from my instagram attached to my Facebook and removed it. 2FA was sent to my email. No problem.
On the instagram side, IG allowed the malicious user to change my accounts default email to a new email (that of the hackers) where 2FA codes would then be sent in order to remove the meta horizon account or make any changes to my passwords or to my account. the hacker changed or added his phone number to my ig account and that’s where the 2FA codes were sent.
Nope. Why would that link work? That would be too easy!
I could see my account logged in in Nigeria, but couldn’t even log it out because this action required me to enter a password and 2FA which was sending codes to the hacker email and phone number.
The only action I was allowed was to change the username and photo of the meta horizon account that was attached to my control center so I can he’d it to something that I would hope to be caught by security bots:

once I had the ability to delete the account I did do immediately with the help of meta horizon deactivating that user account.
but I was under restriction at Facebook (no advertising) and at IG (no messaging for 2days).
Then, as if instagram had just caught up, I get the message that my account is under review. Facebook sends the same type of message but almost instantly clears and reinstates me after I follow the identity confirming prompts. Ig on the other hand- almost instantly decides the opposite.
it’s all over but the crying. Instagram, that was a pathetic attempt at safeguarding your users from malicious hacking only to punish for your inability to protect. If anyone has reversed this decision successfully, feel free to reach out with how.
