My Quest 3 got a lot dimmer after an update. Not using power saver and brightness is to max

So I got the quest 3 early last week. When I turned it on it was fairly bright, but after an update or something, few days ago, the screen feels very dark and it's getting hard to see.

I am NOT using the power saver setting, I have also set the brightness setting to MAX.

Also feels like the glare/reflection is a bit worse, but I am not sure.

Maybe someone has any ideas?

Hey there, @Martlns! Being able to see and navigate through your Meta Quest 3 is absolutely essential, and we're here to help you get this resolved as quickly as possible! So we can get a clearer picture of what's going on, we'd love to ask you a couple questions and see where we can move forward from there! If you can, please answer the following:

  • Does the issue happen in the Home environment or with 3rd-party software (like SteamVR)?
  • Does it happen right away or after longer sessions of use?
  • Has the product been dropped or neglected?

We're looking forward to working with you!

Hi,

  • The issue is in both standalone and SteamVR. Actually it felt that the brightness increased after I use SteamVR for a bit and then switched back to standalone
  • Happens right on startup.
  • Product hasn't been dropped or neglected. It has been bought only around a week ago, but I noticed it's dimmer after a few days, after an update or something

Hi, @Martlns! SteamVR and Meta support are two different channels. However, to best support you; the more details the better as far as which application is used if/when the display offsets and if concern exists in the home environment as well. Our team steady rolls out new releases to improve the consumer experience. Be sure that the settings aren't intentional first and then that it's not a theme we need to adjust. For all things otherwise, contact SteamVR support directly. We'll stay tuned on our end for ways to further help optimize your display. Wishing the best.

Hi again, @Martlns! We're following up to determine if we can assist further on the Meta side. If not, we hope that all is well now with the resources provided. Keep us posted as our team wants to make sure that you're satisfied.

Hi, I will check out the new update if it changes anything. I mostly play standalone so I hope it gets better.

Perfect! Getting better each release is certainly our intent. Thanks for your patience. All the best in the meantime, @Martlns!

Hey, did anyone find a solution to this? I recently got back from a holiday after a few months, my Quest 3 was stored in an official case out of sunlight, suffered no damage, but when I charged it up and finished updates upon my return, things seem darker for me too, mainly in pass-through.  Hand-tracking is also more jittery and the menu comes out at odd angles

Hey there @UltimateBluedog,

Good lighting and visuals are essential for enjoying a smooth and immersive VR experience, so we'd like to try and help you with this!

We have a quick suggestion that might help, would you mind performing a display refresh as below:

  1. Short press and release the power button to put the headset to sleep. The display will turn off.
  2. Wait a while (5 minutes)
  3. Turn the headset back on.

We hope to hear from you soon!
