*My Son's Name* can ask another parent to manage their Meta account... Email - Why?

My son recently purchased himself a Meta Quest 3S, and we just got him all set up. He's 12, and he has an account supervised by me. And, just now, I got an email as follows:

Subject: "*My Son's Name* can ask another parent to manage their Meta account"

Message:

"Hi *My Name*,
*My Son's Name* can’t use their Meta account right now because of an issue with your account.

To allow *My Son's Name* to regain access to their account, they will be able to ask another parent or guardian by May 23 to take over managing their Meta account.

If *My Son's Name* doesn’t take action by May 23, their account will be permanently disabled and they’ll lose access to their apps and in-app purchases.

The Meta account team"

 

Ok, so, what is this all about? I logged into my Meta account and there is nothing obvious there that indicates any kind of 'issue'. What might that issue be? And, why is resolution of that issue not being presented as an option? Pretty sure my completely technically inept (and uncaringly so) wife does not want to create a Meta profile and manage his...
