Hey there, @colton.1! We definitely want for you to be able to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard to do if your headset is not functioning correctly! Can you let us know more about what is happening specifically?

  • Does the headset turn on at all?
  • Does anything display on the screen, or does it remain black?
  • Does the LED light on the outside of the headset show any lights at all?
  • Have you tried fully charging the device?

The more information you can provide, the better equipped we will be to help out.

The LED light on the outside works. The VR turns on and turns it's self off it doesn't show the meta logo or the charging logo. I've tried charging it for a whole day and nothing happens.

Hey @colton.1. We appreciate the information you have sent us. We are going to ask that you attempt to reboot your headset. If that does not help, we then suggest a factory reset. If neither of these help resolve your issue, we would like to proceed further into things with you through a private message. Please reach out and let us know at your earliest convenience. We appreciate your time and understanding. Talk soon!

Nothing will show on the screen I've tried holding the power and the volume button many times

Thanks for getting back to us and confirming the situation, @colton.1! We certainly want to do all we can to get your device back up and running, and we appreciate you working with us! To be absolutely sure we've narrowed that down, are you able to try completing the factory reset from the Meta Quest mobile app directly? Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Menu, then tap Devices.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Headset Settings, then tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset, and then Reset.

If you're still running into this issue, feel free to shoot us a PM! Simply select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us. Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message. We look forward to hearing back from you!

How do I do it if I haft to connect my VR to my phone or have my VR on if the VR can't turn on

Hey @colton.1 We see how your device not being able to fully boot can pose an issue. In this case, we recommend doing a factory reset of the device, which can be done without navigating through the menu. In order to reset your device, please follow the steps here:

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) buttons on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

If you have worries about loosing any information on your Meta account, all of your games/app purchases are attached to your Meta account and will be accesible once you log-in again after the factory reset.

We hope this was resourceful and allows you to get the device to boot fully again. Let us know if the factory data reset works for you or not so that we can explore alternate options for you. We hope to hear from you soon.
