Need Help, Oculus will not work no matter what I try.

Honored Guest
After getting a new computer and also getting Windows 10 with it, I've had nothing but issues with the Oculus. My Rift used to work with my old computer (Windows 7) but not on my new one. The only thing it seems to able to do is flash the orange LED for about  minute then turn off.

Whenever I go into the Utility it just says "HMD Powered off, check HDMI connection". I've tried installing older run times, going into firewall, going into compatibility mode and running as admin. If I got into control panel it'll strangely enough notice my DK2 Camera as a device, but not notice my Rift and put it in the unrecognized category. After I trouble shoot it in the device manager it says that the USB Input device and older one and will not work with USB 3.0.

I'll add my diagnostic log here:

I'm talking about the combo cable. There should be a cable that comes off the top of the headset, that goes to your computer (with both HDMI and USB, plus the connector for the sync cable).

Sorry in advanced if I don't understand most of this as I am still new to computers. The only USB cable that I have is the one for the camera that is working fine. The HDMI itself is not working / not being recognized and I do not understand how a USB hub will work for this.

So, the DK2 has a USB cable that it needs to function. That USB cable comes out of the top of the headset as highlighted in the above photo. Those two cables are HDMI and USB, both of which need to be connected and working in order for it to work. It sounds like this cable is either not plugged in, or not plugged in correctly. Can you please check all the wires?

Easy fix,
First
1 press the power button, nothing will happen, then
2 remove the cover hiding the usb cables on the front of the rift, then,  unplug the usb cable on the right (with the rift facing you) then plug it back in and the yellow light will come on.

It sounds like the HMD USB cable is completely missing! I wonder if OP bought a used unit and the original owner didn't include the correct cables.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Unless the OP literally cut off the HMD USB cable with scissors or something, cos I don't see how it is possible to have the HMD USB cable OR HDMI cable missing as it is directly hard wired into the little box that the IR Sensor Sync cable plugs into.

Sorry guys, I am a complete idiot! I plugged the USB into a proper 2.0 connection and everything works fine now.

Never mind actually, it seemed to of worked for a small period of time but now it's not working again. It's in a correct USB 2.0 hub, but I still get the "HMD powered off" message. The orange LED will occasionally turn on and off very fast but that's all.

Did you also plug in the auxiliary power connector that comes with the DK2? If so then try without it, my DK2 would flip between connected and not connected as well when it had this power supply plugged in.

Tried that just then, still doesn't work unfortunately.
